Self-study spirit: Vietnamese beauty to the world
During her 379 days of service in the Central African Republic, female officer Vu Nhat Huong (Assistant to the International Cooperation Department, Vietnam Peacekeeping Department) always tried her best to study and practice according to Uncle Ho's teachings. Initially, she was assigned to be a communications officer. However, when she was mobilized to join the bomb disposal team with the Indonesian forces, she was still ready to accept the task without hesitation.
"In the team, I was the only woman. When I was asked if I was ready to take on this task, at first I felt confused. I thought that as a woman and going with a foreign army, would I be able to do the task well?... My initial job was just a media officer in charge of taking photos and reporting news. But in a split second, I thought that when I came here, I had to take on the task and as an officer of the Vietnam People's Army, I could not be discouraged or falter before any task. And I agreed," said Ms. Nhat Huong about the tasks full of difficulties and challenges.
After returning, the photo she took was chosen as the typical photo of the week, Quy's was published in the military magazine and received praise from the leaders and was encouraged to try writing for the newspaper. Although confused and bewildered, officer Nhat Huong accepted. In the following days, she researched and learned from friends around her to complete her article well...
At the War Remnants Museum, witnessing an international visitor in tears before the photos of the consequences of Agent Orange, Ms. Nhat Huong was speechless. That image will always haunt her. The female officer said to herself: “Being born in peace is sacred. We always keep in mind: Peace is a mission, is humanity, is the heart. For the sake of the flag, for the two words Vietnam, we constantly learn and strive to complete all assigned tasks.”
When he first went to France to study, his French was almost non-existent, but with great ambition, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Le Hung (Lecturer at Gustave Eiffel University, Republic of France, an outstanding representative in the field of science and technology research) studied and trained himself every day. "Uncle Ho went to find a way to save the country, and I will find my own path," he once shared with his mother. Uncle Ho's teachings, thoughts, and style have become the guiding principle for the journey to overcome all language and cultural barriers, to bring Vietnamese intelligence far and wide.
“When I came to France, I had the honor of meeting international scholars who had spent many years researching Uncle Ho and published books in French. These things made me even more proud of the two words 'Vietnam' every time they appeared on the international stage.
Last year, I had the honor to attend the program to implement the 55th anniversary of his will, and now when I think back, I still cannot control my emotions. As a generation of young people born and raised in peace, we are aware of our own responsibilities. We have the aspiration to bring Vietnam to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, entering the era of national advancement through science and technology", Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Le Hung shared.
Self-study is not only a personal effort, but also a responsibility, the way young people today spread the image of the country from the African battlefield to the European lecture halls with Vietnamese will, knowledge and heart.
Dare to challenge, "not afraid of mistakes"
Right from the first days of her artistic career, singer Phuong My Chi (Promising Young Vietnamese Face 2024, Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City) chose to stick with traditional folk music, instead of following market trends. Because of that different choice, her journey to pursue her passion for music inevitably had some ups and downs, especially when trying out folk music materials that require depth and empathy.
“When making the album 'Vu co bay co', I forced myself to learn a lot, because this album was inspired by Vietnamese literature. At first, I was quite nervous and afraid of making mistakes. But then, I learned about Uncle Ho's story, that when his articles were published in French newspapers, he also humbly said that he really hoped the editorial board would continue to correct his spelling mistakes so that he could learn more. That is the spirit that makes every young person like me feel that making mistakes is not something too scary. From those mistakes, we will learn more and develop more," singer Phuong My Chi expressed.
Currently, the Gen Z female singer feels happy when her "brainchildren" are loved and strongly spread by the audience, especially the young generation: "I deeply understand Uncle Ho's teaching that culture and art are also a front, and artists are soldiers. I hope that not only this year but many years from now, this will still be a front for me to contribute on the musical path. Not only to make Vietnamese audiences love the identity, culture, and music of the nation more, but also to spread to international audiences", singer Phuong My Chi said.
“Dare to challenge, not afraid of making mistakes”, that is not only the artistic spirit that singer Phuong My Chi is pursuing, but also the positive message she sends to the younger generation. At a very young age, the singer has chosen for herself a challenging but valuable path, steadfast in her identity and constantly learning to go far. For Phuong My Chi, every step, every effort is a way to preserve and renew traditional music, spreading the spirit of patriotism and the desire to contribute through each melody.
Surpass yourself
When he was born, his two arms were contracted and he could not straighten them, causing English Pedagogy student Chuong Dinh Phuc (Outstanding disabled youth participating in the program "Shining Vietnamese Willpower" in 2024) to always have low self-esteem and a deep inferiority complex. His childhood years were filled with sadness when, at the age of 10, his parents separated, Dinh Phuc became more withdrawn and quiet, building a shell for himself to hide his injuries.
He thought that life was full of dark colors, but one time while reading books in the library, Dinh Phuc read the words left by President Ho: Study to become a human being... study to serve the Fatherland, serve the people... Returning home, he kept thinking and began to be curious, wanting to learn more about Uncle Ho through books and newspapers... It was also at those moments that the first light in his life began to shine, Dinh Phuc realized his own values and determined to study, "not to yield" to adversity.
Uncle Ho's teachings became a torch to light the way, helping Dinh Phuc see his own value. He decided to pursue English Pedagogy, hoping to become a teacher standing on the podium to impart knowledge to children.
“I am imbued with Ho Chi Minh’s ideology of ‘not being afraid of hardships or difficulties’ and ‘self-study for life’. I think these two things always go hand in hand and cannot be separated. Even though I am different in appearance, if I keep studying and practicing my skills, I believe I can become a teacher, a better version of myself in the future.
Currently, I feel grateful and lucky to be one of the honored delegates at the 2025 Congress of Advanced Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings. I believe that this award not only represents my personal efforts as a delegate from Dak Lak province, but also the help and companionship of all the young volunteers and young shock troops who have, are and will continue to contribute to the province," Dinh Phuc shared with gratitude.
The Gen Z guy also enthusiastically shared with reporters about the Summer of Love volunteer project "Sunshine" and the program "Supporting exam season" in which he plays a role in communication, making efforts to spread on social networking sites, at schools... Although his hands still have many difficulties operating the computer, Dinh Phuc is not discouraged, patiently, meticulously, coming up with ideas, designing posters, logos, slogans, propaganda messages...
As a member of the Executive Committee of the Foreign Languages Department of Tay Nguyen University, the young man always strives to spread positive energy; always accompanies and promotes self-study and lifelong learning in each member. As a student of Pedagogy, in addition to improving professional skills, self-study, self-exploration, and research to improve knowledge... Dinh Phuc constantly applies digital technology and AI in learning, building teaching methods; especially thinking positively, 'not surrendering' to life's challenges.
“There were times when I felt unsteady, disoriented, not knowing what to do... But every time like that, I remembered the reason why I started, thought about the lessons, the stories about the respected Uncle Ho, I felt like I was given more motivation; then I thought to myself: Just a little more, I'm almost successful...", Dinh Phuc confided.
Among hundreds of young progressive faces following Uncle Ho's words, Dinh Phuc still steadfastly continues to move forward in the same way he quietly went through the most difficult years. The young man understands that the light of determination does not lie in appearance, but in a persistent heart, eyes that always look forward and a spirit of continuous learning to contribute.
Grateful to those who have 'fallen'
After four years of operation, the Skyline volunteer group, led by team leader Phung Quang Trung, has restored more than 6,000 historical photos for free, giving them to families of martyrs, museums and historical sites. For them, each photo contains a lot of passion, meticulousness and concerns. Behind them are untold stories, lingering memories and tears of those who have spent their whole lives searching for their loved ones.
As a young man living in peace, Skyline group leader Phung Quang Trung is always grateful to previous generations and constantly learns and trains himself according to Uncle Ho's teachings: Study for life and always remember the merits of those who "fell" for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
“I once watched a report in which Uncle Ho advised: We must pay special attention to revolutionary families, relatives of martyrs and regularly care for them through gratitude activities... On the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, our Skyline group coordinated with the Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union to present 135 photos of heroic martyrs and gifts of gratitude to the families of martyrs in Quang Ninh on May 18...
When I was honored as one of the advanced youths Following Uncle Ho's teachings in 2025, it was a great honor and pride for me, the work I am doing is recognized by everyone, more especially this award carries Uncle Ho's ideology, the name of the great President Ho Chi Minh. Spiritually, this is the award that brings the greatest meaning in my life up to now. Although my work schedule is busy, I appreciate it and try to arrange to be able to go to Ho Chi Minh City, respond to the congress and activities to show gratitude and remember Uncle Ho... I am very grateful to the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for caring about our generation of young people and organizing programs and awards to encourage and motivate the journeys of individuals and groups that are contributing to the community", Mr. Phung Quang Trung proudly shared.

"Mind, spirit, strength" always go together
Known as the "Golden Boy" of the Chemistry Olympiad, Nguyen Huu Tien Hung (student of Hanoi Medical University, winner of the Gold Medal of the 2024 International Chemistry Olympiad) always strives to study, practice, cultivate morality, and follow the example of respected Uncle Ho.
In a conversation with reporters, the medical student could not hide his happiness as he was fulfilling his dream during his school years: “In grades 6 and 7, I tried hard to study English well so that I could take part in the provincial excellent student competition at the end of my grade. Since grade 8, I dreamed of becoming a doctor, so I changed my focus to studying biology very well. In grade 9, thanks to my sister's encouragement, I started to join the Chemistry team,” Tien Hung recounted.
Tien Hung shared that President Ho Chi Minh's ideology and style have trained and helped the young man become better every day: "I learned from Uncle Ho the spirit of patriotism, the willingness to sacrifice for the nation; diligence, hard work; the desire to learn; the spirit of physical training. During his lifetime, Uncle Ho did many jobs, constantly improving his foreign language skills, especially researching the path to national liberation.
As a student, I rely on the knowledge accumulated from my junior and senior high school years, always trying to improve my foreign language skills, to access new and advanced medical documents and methods in the world. Besides, I am also inspired by Uncle Ho's enthusiasm for physical exercise. After stressful hours of studying, physical exercises and sports help me improve my physical and mental health."
The happiness of living and studying in peacetime, under the sky of independence and freedom is the common feeling of many youth delegates attending the Congress of Advanced Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings in 2025. Ms. Nguyen Kim Hau (National Grandmaster of Vovinam in 2024, graduate student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports) shared that in any era, knowledge always plays a key role, deciding the rise of each individual, the prosperity of a society and the strength of an entire nation.
The young girl's luggage during her competitions always includes books, notebooks... Taking advantage of her free time, Kim Hau tries to study a little bit every day to grasp the knowledge in class. Besides, to maintain motivation and study effectively, she forms a study group to share documents and exercises, especially during exams.
“For me, knowledge is not just a baggage, but also an inner strength, a solid foundation for me to build my own future. I believe that each individual with knowledge and a desire to contribute will contribute to beautifying the picture of Vietnam, so that our nation can confidently stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers in the international arena…
Imbued with Ho Chi Minh's ideology, 'diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality' has always been the guiding principle for me to practice morality. I am aware of the role and responsibility of a young citizen, actively participating in volunteer activities, social work, spreading humanistic values, contributing to building a civilized and beautiful living environment, just as Uncle Ho wished for a society: 'People live to love each other'", Ms. Kim Hau shared.
In addition, the journey to become a typical 5-good student at the Central level, or the Certificate of Merit for Advanced Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings in 2025 of the young girl is always associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style... According to Kim Hau, physical fitness is also an important factor, the foundation for the young girl to realize her dreams, ambitions, and ideals in life. Uncle Ho once said "A strong people makes a prosperous country", as a national champion of Vovinam, Kim Hau is even more aware of training willpower, perseverance, and the spirit of overcoming difficulties, following Uncle Ho's example of training for health.
The 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday is an opportunity for every Vietnamese youth to look back at themselves, learn and follow his great example in a more practical and effective way. Each young person believes that, with small but meaningful actions, each young person will contribute to building an increasingly prosperous and happy Vietnam. Holding the certificate of merit recognizing their efforts and contributions, each young person cannot hide their honor and pride. However, each person is always deeply aware of their responsibility to constantly learn; train their mind, intelligence, and strength according to Uncle Ho's teachings, especially further promoting their pioneering role, making practical contributions to the cause of building an increasingly prosperous country.
The simple but inspiring stories of today's youth generation are a living testament to the everlasting vitality of Ho Chi Minh's ideology. When young people dare to commit themselves, live with ideals, constantly learn and contribute, the country will grow further and further. That is also the most sincere and profound response that today's youth generation sends to beloved Uncle Ho, who always puts his full trust in the young generation.
