Attending the meeting were comrade Phung Quang Hoi, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial Association of War Veterans, Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers; leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son city; representatives of leaders of a number of city agencies and units, and 148 delegates who were war veterans, former youth volunteers, and revolutionary soldiers imprisoned by the enemy in the city.
At the meeting, the delegates recalled the heroic memories of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 - the peak of which was the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South and unifying the country. During that great resistance war, together with the army and people of Lang Son province, Lang Son city contributed a lot of human and material resources with the spirit of "All for the beloved South", the city was a transit point for goods, weapons and ammunition from Socialist countries to help Vietnam fight the US, contributing to the historic victory of Spring 1975.
Speaking at the meeting, the Secretary of the City Party Committee briefly informed about some outstanding results in the fields of socio-economy, culture, science and technology, digital transformation, national defense - security, Party building work, and the political system in Lang Son city in the past time.
He expressed his deep gratitude, appreciation and respect for the sacrifices and great contributions of the war veterans, former youth volunteers and revolutionary soldiers imprisoned by the enemy for the independence of the nation, for peace and national reunification. He believed that in the coming time, the war veterans, former youth volunteers and revolutionary soldiers imprisoned by the enemy would continue to promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", loyalty, solidarity, exemplary, innovative, self-reliant, dynamic and creative, striving to compete to contribute to the successful implementation of the city's goals, contributing to making Lang Son city in particular and Lang Son province in general increasingly prosperous, civilized and happy.
He requested that the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in the city continue to care for and create all-round conditions for war veterans, former youth volunteers and revolutionary cadres imprisoned by the enemy to continue to carry out emulation movements well and participate in local economic, cultural and social development.
On this occasion, 15 individuals who are outstanding war veterans were awarded certificates of merit by the Chairman of Lang Son City People's Committee.
