Igniting creativity in teaching and learning.

In Hung Yen, from urban to rural areas, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a powerful tool, a "virtual assistant," contributing to innovation, modernization, and positive results in teaching and learning.

This transformation is not just a movement, but also a political and strategic task for the province in implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the orientation for the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation; and Resolution 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development.

"Igniting the flame" of creative learning hours.

Math lessons for class 5A6 at Le Danh Phuong Primary School (Hung Ha commune, Hung Yen province) are now more exciting in an engaging digital interactive environment. Previously considered a subject requiring intense concentration with dry numbers and calculations, mathematics has become more accessible to primary school students thanks to the help of AI assistants and the interactive game "Decoding the Mysterious Numbers." Ms. Tran Thi Viet Hoa, a teacher at Le Danh Phuong Primary School, integrates mathematical knowledge into the math puzzles using the Quizizz software. Whenever Ms. Hoa's phone moves to a student's answer board, the correct or incorrect answer is displayed and linked to the classroom's smart board in an instant.

Ms. Hoa stated that she has been applying AI to creating digital lesson plans for many years. In addition to the ChatGPT tool, which she has been using since 2024, she now also utilizes other applications and tools such as Canva, Google Flow, and Quizizz to create videos, interactive questions, and student assessments quickly and diversely.

Tran Huu Phat, a student in class 5A6, shared that every lesson incorporating digital technology and artificial intelligence becomes more interesting for him. He not only learns knowledge but also experiences technology in a fun and beneficial way.

According to Mr. Hoang Huu Hung, Principal of Le Danh Phuong Primary School, in the 2025-2026 school year, the school will have 28 classes with over 1,000 students. To ensure adequate facilities and infrastructure for the application of information technology and AI in teaching and learning, the school has equipped all classrooms with computers and smart TVs; developed plans, organized training for teachers, and assigned tasks to each grade level. The school's goal for this school year is to create at least 30 digital learning materials (videos, e-books, electronic lectures). Each grade level will have at least 6 digital learning materials using AI technology in lesson design; and simultaneously connect with and utilize digital libraries and learning resource repositories from ministries and departments.

At Thong Nhat Junior High School (Hung Ha commune), artificial intelligence (AI) is recognized not only as a trend but also as a crucial tool for educational innovation. To date, most teachers at the school have used AI in lesson design, classroom teaching, test creation, and quality management and student assessment. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Chat, the school principal, stated that when applying AI in educational activities, the school has set three fundamental conditions, summarized by the "three Cs": robust technology (meaning a stable digital platform, digital systems, and equipment and tools ready for AI application); human resources (staff, teachers, and employees must have the knowledge and skills to use the technology and possess professional ethics); and policies and mechanisms to ensure teachers use AI safely and correctly.

After a period of implementation, the benefits of AI can be summarized in "three T's": Savings (teachers can save time, effort, and money in implementing educational activities); Increased interaction between teachers and students, and between students themselves; and Increased customization capabilities because AI-generated content can be flexibly adjusted to the abilities and learning pace of each student.

According to Ms. Do Thi Thu Huong, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Hung Ha commune, identifying the improvement of educational quality and the comprehensive development of students as a key task, the commune directs schools to continue applying smart learning software and effectively utilizing AI tools in teaching to enhance learning interest and educational effectiveness. Schools regularly provide training to teachers, helping them master digital skills and modern teaching methods; and encourage teachers to research and create new teaching models suitable for each student group.

In reality, artificial intelligence is bringing new vitality to the education sector in Hung Yen, opening up opportunities for comprehensive innovation in teaching methods, testing, evaluation, and management. However, alongside these prospects are numerous challenges, requiring efforts and solutions to ensure AI truly becomes a powerful tool, aiming for a smart, modern, learner-centered education system that enhances students' comprehensive abilities and fosters a generation of digital and global citizens.

Mastering technology

Sharing her thoughts on the challenges of using AI in schools, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Chat, Principal of Thong Nhat Junior High School, pointed out three key difficulties that need attention. Firstly, it's difficult to control the content of information because the amount of knowledge AI provides is very rich and dynamic, but if not strictly controlled, it can lead to inaccurate or unverified information, causing confusion for students. Secondly, it's difficult in testing and evaluation, especially with students who overuse AI to do exercises and solve problems without critical thinking; teachers who aren't discerning in their assessments may not be able to fully evaluate students' true abilities. Thirdly, it's difficult to restrain teachers; if they overuse AI and copy all the content provided by the tool, it will hinder their creativity and independent research.

Faced with these challenges, the school has set three key requirements for the application of AI in teaching. First is "correctness"—it must be used for the right purpose, with the right content, at the right time, and in the right way. Next is "sufficiency"—it must be used appropriately, avoiding the copying of all content provided by AI. Teachers and students should use AI as a tool to support critical thinking, verification, and reference, not as the sole and absolute source of knowledge. Finally, there is "ethics," encompassing teacher ethics, professional ethics, and digital ethics in the use of technological platforms.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Chat affirmed that, despite its advantages, AI cannot replace the position of teachers, because technology is only a tool. If teachers know how to effectively utilize AI, they will replace themselves with the best version – a version of a creative, leading teacher, freeing themselves from administrative tasks and procedures to focus on inspiring and nurturing students' thinking. Mastering the technology, understanding its limitations and ethical principles when using AI, is key to ensuring that this "supporting arm" maximizes its effectiveness without becoming a "double-edged sword," stifling the thinking and academic abilities of future generations.

Dr. Nguyen Viet Huy, Deputy Head of the Department of General Education, Hung Yen Provincial Department of Education and Training, stated that, in implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, the Department organized training and professional development sessions on the topic of digital transformation and the application of AI in teaching management, testing, and evaluation for all levels of education. Specifically, officials and teachers received training and guidance on using several AI applications in lesson design, student testing and evaluation; skills in writing "Prompts" (commands for communicating with AI); designing professional PowerPoints with AI; converting text and images into audio and video, etc.

In the 2025-2026 academic year, the province will have over 753,000 students, 496 preschools, 719 primary and secondary schools, 33 vocational schools, 2 continuing education centers, and 18 vocational and continuing education centers… According to Plan 09-KH/TU dated October 23, 2025, of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, comprehensive digital transformation, widespread adoption, and strong application of digital technology and artificial intelligence in educational institutions are among the province's key solutions to realize Resolution 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo. In particular, Hung Yen will focus on promoting digital transformation in education, especially at the high school level; prioritizing the pilot implementation of a comprehensive digital transformation model for high schools, gradually expanding it throughout the province. Hung Yen province aims to have 100% of its high schools complete digital transformation by 2030, in a comprehensive, effective, and sustainable manner.

The province is focusing on promoting the application of science and technology, and artificial intelligence in innovating teaching and learning methods, as well as testing and evaluation. The province is promoting the application of digital education models, AI-powered education, smart education management, digital schools, and smart classrooms in educational institutions, thereby raising the digital and AI competency standards for learners and teachers at all levels.
