Hang Dau Water Tower was built in 1894, before Long Bien Bridge, located at the intersection of Hang Than, Hang Luoc, Hang Giay, Hang Dau, Quan Thanh and Phan Dinh Phung streets (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi ).

Before opening to visitors, the Hang Dau water tower will be transformed into an art space by the design team, including architect Cao The Anh, artist Nguyen Duc Phuong and colleagues, with two key installation systems. These are the sound installation system recreating the sound of water in nature and the light installation system that visually expands the image of artifacts recycled from urban waste.
Speaking with Thanh Nien at noon on November 10, a representative of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the Hang Dau water tower is an industrial heritage of the water industry but has been abandoned for many years.
With the view of using existing heritage resources to regenerate into development resources, the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed that the city choose Hang Dau water tower as one of the locations to put into creative activities, becoming a place for everyone to participate in activities.
According to a representative of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023 is a playground created for artists, designers... to join hands to create cultural products. "That is the viewpoint of this year's festival. A festival where everyone joins hands to create a playground, instead of just the state management agency doing it and everyone coming to enjoy it," the representative added.
The art installation at Hang Dau Water Tower is one of the activities within the framework of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023, taking place from November 17 to December 31, hosted by the Hanoi People's Committee and the Vietnam Association of Architects. In addition to Hang Dau Water Tower, the group of architects and artists also introduced art spaces at historical buildings and relics such as Gia Lam Railway Factory, Hanoi Railway Station, Long Bien Railway Station, and Long Bien Bridge.

Hang Dau Water Tower is one of the ancient architectural works of Hanoi built by the French. The tower is built of rubble stone, cylindrical, 19 m in diameter, 3 floors high, conical roof, in the middle is a lightning rod. The tower has a steel water tank with a capacity of 1,250 m3 , on top of 8 stone walls, the system of pipes leading up and down has iron valves. After several renovations, Hang Dau Water Tower still retains its original state but 17 windows on the first floor have been sealed.
