Regarding the first 10th grade entrance exam applied according to the 2018 General Education Program, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the literature exam was built according to the orientation of integrating the assessment of reading comprehension and writing ability, the content in the writing part is related to the text in the reading comprehension part.

The structure of the literature test is as follows:

Part 1 (5.0 points): Reading and writing literary texts

Question 1 (3.0 points): Reading comprehension.
Question 2 (2.0 points): Write a paragraph.

Part 2 (5.0 points): Read and understand argumentative or informational texts and write social argumentative essays

Question 1 (1.0 point): Reading comprehension.
Question 2 (4.0 points): Write a social argumentative essay.

The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City took place on June 6 and 7 with three subjects: literature, math and foreign language.

Reading comprehension:

Source: non-textbook materials. Text type: literary text and one of two types: argumentative text or informational text. Length: Total length of the materials in the test is not more than 1,300 words.

Writing: Write a paragraph (about 200 words). One of two requirements must be met: Write a paragraph recording your feelings about a poem or a poem; Write a paragraph analyzing the content, the unique features of the work's artistic form and its aesthetic effect.

This afternoon, candidates will take the second exam, a foreign language, with a 90-minute test duration. The exam committee members said that language proficiency will be assessed not only based on students’ memorized grammar and vocabulary, but also on their ability to understand and apply language knowledge in appropriate contexts, especially real-life situations.

In the 40 questions, this year's 10th grade exam will have 2 new questions about writing appropriate phrases based on the given information. This question tests the ability to read notes in the dictionary to find linguistic information and apply knowledge.
