Change the electricity meter reading schedule to the last day of the month

(Baoquangngai.vn) - From October 2023, the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) will implement a roadmap to change the meter reading date to the end of the month for electricity customers in 13 provinces and cities in the Central Highlands - Central region (from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa and 4 Central Highlands provinces).

Accordingly, in 2023, customers with meter readings scheduled from the 10th of each month onwards will change the meter reading date to the last day of the month. For Da Nang City and Khanh Hoa Province, meter readings will be recorded on the last day of the month for 100% of customers. In 2024, EVNCPC will change the meter reading date for customers in the remaining localities.

Changing the meter reading date to the end of the month is done based on the consensus and agreement of electricity customers, through the agreement and electricity purchase contract signed between the customer and the electricity seller. In case the customer does not agree, the electricity industry will persuade and only change the meter reading date when the customer agrees.

To date, EVNCPC has converted electricity purchase and sale contracts electronically. This includes an agreement to change the meter reading date to the end of the month for more than 3.16 million residential customers. In 2023, EVNCPC plans to implement the change of meter reading date to the end of the month for 2.6 million customers (accounting for 55% of the total 4.7 million customers).

The change of meter reading schedule to the last day of the month is implemented to improve the quality, efficiency, transparency and ease of understanding in the management of electricity measurement, reading and invoicing for both electricity sellers and electricity buyers. For customers, the unified change of reading date to the last day of the month helps customers to easily remember, check and monitor electricity consumption index according to the correct number of days in the month (from the 1st to the last day of the month).

EVNCPC representative said that changing the meter reading date does not affect the rights of customers, the electricity usage rate and electricity bills of customers are still guaranteed to be calculated in accordance with the provisions of Circular No. 16/2014/TT-BCT, Circular 09/2023/TT-BCT and the decision on the current electricity price list. In the following months, the number of days of electricity use is equal to the number of days in the month.
