Speaking to VTC News reporter, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Nguyet, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Na Ri district (Bac Kan) said that as of 5:00 p.m. today, May 28, the search for the victim who fell into the "death" hole in Kim Lu commune had not yet yielded results.
Rescue teams used specialized cameras to survey the sinkhole, which is 8 to 12 meters deep, and to pump water out of the hole. However, the search was still difficult because the terrain in the area was very complicated with many "frog jaw" rocks and great depth, while the appearance of a new underground water source made the situation even more unpredictable.
In particular, the bottom of the hole has changed a lot compared to the night before because mud and sand continue to rise, making the search difficult.
"We are currently studying other options, possibly scooping up soil and rocks from the bottom of the hole to assist in the search for victims," Mrs. Nguyet added.
Previously, at around 9:00 p.m. on May 26, Nguyen Duy Ph. (36 years old, from Kim Hy commune, Na Ri district) drove his motorbike at high speed and crashed into a fenced area, warning of danger due to a large sinkhole. After that, both he and his motorbike fell into the deep hole.
On the night of the incident, Na Ri district authorities quickly arrived and deployed rescue work.
Authorities have mobilized many modern and manual equipment such as specialized cameras, field pumps, mechanical tools... to search in the hole more than 10m deep to drain water from the hole, creating conditions to access the area where the victim is trapped.
