On the second day of competition of the tournament taking place in Varna city (Bulgaria), under the World Cup Series system of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), athlete Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien excellently won the gold medal in the pommel horse event.
Competing on the first day (May 8) of the qualifying round, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien led with a very high score of 14,850 points, far surpassing the two athletes right behind him, Rayan Radkov (Bulgaria) with 14,200 points and Lee Chih Kai (Chinese Taiwan) with 14,100 points.

Entering the final round on May 10, Xuan Thien was under some psychological pressure, making a mistake in his landing despite his perfect performance. He only received 14.266 points from the judges, but it was still enough to bring home the first gold medal for Vietnamese gymnastics at this year's World Cup.
Ranked second and third after the Vietnamese athlete are Zeinolla Idrissov (Kazakhstan) with 14,233 points and Abdullah Azimov (Uzbekistan) with 13,800 points.
Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien, 23 years old this year, has shone at the 2021 and 2023 SEA Games with gold medals in the pommel horse event. This is also the first time the young man from Ho Chi Minh City has won a gold medal at the Gymnastics World Cup.

Also on the competition day of May 10, Nguyen Van Khanh Phong finished second in the final of the hanging rings event, winning a silver medal with 13,566 points. Khanh Phong's achievement was only behind the first place winner Adem Asil (Türkiye) with 14,100 points while Daniel Villafane (Argentina) won the bronze medal with 13,333 points. Khanh Phong is 23 years old this year, having won a silver medal at the 2023 ASIAD.

The Vietnamese Gymnastics team participated in the Varna World Cup with 5 athletes, including Trinh Hai Khang, Xuan Thien, Nguyen Van Khanh Phong, Dinh Phuong Thanh and Do Nam Anh.
According to the team leader and head coach Truong Minh Sang, the team still has high hopes of winning more gold medals because Dinh Phuong Thanh and Trinh Hai Khang have reached the finals of the parallel bars and vault events, competing on May 11.
