Another student drowning case in Quang Binh

At around 4:00 p.m. on April 27, TPT (born in 2017, grade 2A student, Quang Tan Primary and Secondary School, Ba Don town) and his cousin, a grade 5 student, went to the Gianh river bank to cool off.

While walking for some fresh air, T unfortunately slipped and fell into Gianh River. The older brother who was with him tried to rescue him but was unsuccessful, so he called for adults to come and help, but T had already drowned.

Upon receiving the news, local authorities mobilized forces, vehicles, divers from neighboring communes and relatives to search overnight.

At 8:00 p.m. the same day, the authorities found T, but the victim had died.

Drowning incident in Dinh River (Bo Trach district) caused 2 students to die.

Previously, at around 4:15 p.m. on April 3, Truong TA (born in 2010, 9th grade student at Thuan Duc Primary and Secondary School) went fishing with a group of friends downstream of the main spillway of Phu Vinh Lake, Dong Hoi City.

After fishing for a while, TA jumped into the spillway to bathe but because the water was deep, he gradually sank.

At this time, the two friends tried to pull him up but couldn't, so they called for help from the people around, but it was too late.

At about 10:16 p.m. (April 3 evening), authorities found TA's body, about 8 meters from the sinking location.

Then, on the afternoon of April 20, four students went swimming at the end of the Dinh River (Nhan Hai village, Nhan Trach commune, Bo Trach district). While swimming, two students swam safely to shore, the other two went missing.

At 7:30 a.m. on April 21, the bodies of PLTA and H.D.H were found not far from the drowning location.

There are many reasons why many students and children drown. However, the main reason is that some families are busy with economic activities, parents work far away, children stay at home with grandparents, relatives, due to carelessness, lack of supervision from adults, children go to rivers, streams, lakes... by themselves, leading to heartbreaking drowning.

Therefore, to minimize drowning accidents among children in the area, sectors, localities, and schools need to further promote propaganda about the risk of drowning accidents, focusing on teaching safe swimming skills to protect themselves.
