Lao Cai fines many establishments trading in medicines and functional foods

(PLVN) - Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health has just established two interdisciplinary working groups to conduct a general inspection of drug, functional food, and cosmetic businesses in the area.

Accordingly, the working groups inspected compliance with legal regulations in the business of drugs, cosmetics, and functional foods at pharmacies, drug stores, and food businesses in the districts of Bao Thang, Muong Khuong, Sa Pa town, and Lao Cai city.

In particular, the working groups focused on inspecting drug and functional food businesses.

The content of the thorough inspection of good pharmacy management practice (GPP) standards includes: personnel, facilities, techniques; drug storage equipment; records, books and professional documents of the drug retail facility. Pharmacy activities such as buying and selling, posting prices, selling drugs according to prescriptions, etc.

The working groups focused on inspecting drug and functional food businesses.

Through inspection, the interdisciplinary working group drew up records and fined 5 pharmacies, with a total amount of 49 million VND.

Along with the inspection, the working group also propagated and required establishments to sign a commitment not to trade in counterfeit goods, smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, and to implement price listing and regulations on business conditions for modern medicines, functional foods, cosmetics, etc.
