Nam Dong mobilizes resources to expand roads

Breakthrough work

Many years ago, the main roads in residential areas in Nam Dong ward were narrow, many sections were degraded, affecting people's travel. Faced with this reality, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the ward identified investment in traffic infrastructure as a key task, which was identified by the Nam Dong Ward Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term as one of the breakthrough tasks.

Implementing the Resolution of the Ward Party Congress, in recent years, Nam Dong Ward has mobilized resources, done a good job of mass mobilization, and encouraged people to donate land to renovate, upgrade, and expand many roads.

From 2022 to present, Nam Dong ward has been renovating and expanding the road surface to 6 - 8 m, paving 3 main roads in the residential areas of Dong Ngo, Khanh Hoi and Phu Luong. The total length of the 3 roads is nearly 1.5 km with a total investment of about 17 billion VND from the budget and other legal sources.

To date, two roads in Khanh Hoi and Phu Luong residential areas have been completed and put into use with a total length of nearly 500 m. The road in Dong Ngo residential area under construction has completed the foundation and widened the road surface from over 3 m to 8 m. The construction unit strives to complete this road before May 31.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Kien, Secretary of the Dong Ngo Residential Area Party Cell, said that during the implementation of the renovation and expansion of the main road of the area, the people were excited and highly agreed. Many households voluntarily donated land and spent money to rebuild the fence to facilitate the road expansion.

People support

During the implementation process, the Ward People's Committee directed professional staff to closely coordinate with leaders of residential areas to propagate and mobilize people to speed up site clearance and promptly resolve arising problems. "Nearly 100 people donated thousands of square meters of land. The Ward People's Committee proactively supported and facilitated households donating land to complete related procedures to be re-issued land use right certificates," said Mr. Vu Pham Thien, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Nam Dong Ward People's Committee.

Ben Bi Hamlet has more than 40 households with 146 people. The main road of the hamlet was only about 2 meters wide, seriously degraded, making it difficult for people to travel. Every time it rains, this road is often flooded. Faced with this reality, the Party Committee, Party cell, and the residential front work committee have actively promoted and mobilized households to join hands in renovating and expanding the road.

In 2023, households voluntarily contributed money, 1 million VND each. Most households here also supported with the spirit of those who have little, donate little, those who have much, donate much. Along with that, households on both sides of the road agreed and voluntarily donated land. With the determination and consensus of all the people in the hamlet, in 2024, the main road of more than 300 m long in Ben Bi hamlet completed the renovation and expansion from 2 m to over 3 m. In particular, with the consent of the government, people in Ben Bi hamlet contributed money to fill in the pond and build a common playground.

Party member Dinh Van Nghia in Ben Bi hamlet donated dozens of square meters of residential land and rebuilt the fence and gate to widen the hamlet road. He shared: “Previously, the hamlet road was narrow and difficult for vehicles to travel. Next to the main road was a stagnant pond that polluted the environment. With the consensus and high unity of the people, Ben Bi hamlet now has a large, beautiful, spacious road with a spacious common playground. Everyone in the hamlet is very happy and excited.”

Mr. Dinh Van Xuan, Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Khanh Hoi Residential Area Front Work Committee, said that Party members and residents in the area were unanimous and determined when there was a policy to renovate and expand roads. Every time the Party Cell implemented the Party Committee's resolution on road construction, Party members actively propagated and mobilized households to agree. Therefore, in the past 3 years, Khanh Hoi residential area has renovated and expanded 2 main roads with a total length of about 700 m using the commune budget and socialized sources. The residential area mobilized and signed commitments with households to serve as a basis for continuing to renovate and expand another road with a length of more than 400 m. During the implementation process, people all agreed, supported and committed to voluntarily donate land for road construction.

Nam Dong Ward has been completing many roads in residential areas, creating synchronous traffic connections, convenient for people to travel and trade. Thereby contributing to the effective implementation of the urban beautification program of Hai Duong City and promoting the socio -economic development of the locality.
