
Le Chu Giang, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of the Elderly, said that after 5 years of implementation (from September 2020 to May 2025), Ho Chi Minh City has established 133 clubs, bringing the total number of clubs in the city to 288 clubs with 16,208 members.
The clubs were formed and developed covering districts, towns, and Thu Duc City; with activities such as: increasing income, the club fund of over 5.3 billion VND for 1,412 members to borrow capital; taking care of sick elderly people, supporting house cleaning, disseminating knowledge...
At the conference, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy sent congratulations on the 84th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Elderly and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly . This is an opportunity to look back at the great contributions of the elderly in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, as well as the proud development path of the Vietnamese elderly.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy emphasized that the Prime Minister 's Project 1336 on expanding the Intergenerational Self-Help Club model is a major policy with profound humanitarian significance. Thereby, improving the quality of life of the elderly, families and communities, focusing on the elderly in vulnerable groups (those in difficult circumstances, women...).
In Ho Chi Minh City, the Project has been actively implemented with the close attention and direction of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the close coordination of departments, branches and sectors, especially the Representative Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of the Elderly. The clubs have truly become a useful playground, helping the elderly increase their income, reduce poverty and actively participate in local activities.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy said that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to closely coordinate with relevant units, especially the Representative Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of the Elderly, to support the clubs and improve the quality of their activities. At the same time, it will synthesize proposals and recommendations to report and propose to the authorities to consider and adjust the club model to better suit the socio -economic conditions of each locality, especially income-generating activities and regulations on fund management.

On this occasion, 2 groups and 3 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly for their outstanding achievements in implementing the Project to replicate the model of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs.
