After many adjustments to the schedule, the project of the Saline Inundation Dam on the Cai River in Nha Trang is expected to be completed by the end of this year. This is a key project to welcome the 18th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025. Currently, contractors are making efforts to speed up the progress, determined to put the project into operation as planned.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year. |
Up to now, the main dam has completed the entire reinforced concrete volume of 6 dam pillars and 5 sill beams. The boat lock has completed the reinforced concrete construction. The upstream and downstream embankments of the north bank have been completed; the upstream embankment of the south bank has been driven with 34/56 piles, and the downstream embankment of the south bank has been completed with 57/83 sheet piles. The riverbed reinforcement item with concrete slabs, stone gabions, and stone mats has reached more than 95% of the volume. The traffic bridge has completed the bridge deck of 7/9 spans, and is continuing to construct the T1 pier, M1 abutment, and the infrastructure of the north bank. In addition, the construction unit has also completed the installation of all 20 main dam cylinders, the boat lock hydraulic cylinders, and the balancing valve gate cylinders.
According to Mr. Huynh Quoc Dung - Head of Project Management Department 2, Provincial Development Project Management Board, up to now, the project has reached about 85% of the total volume value. However, compensation and clearance work is still the biggest bottleneck. Currently, there are 6 cases that have not yet handed over the site, of which 3 cases are within the scope of the saltwater barrier dam project that is in the process of approving the compensation plan, expected to be paid and handed over in April 2025. Of the remaining 3 cases, 1 case is within the Ring Road 2 Project connecting Ngoc Hoi intersection. Cases that do not comply with the handover of the site have had their enforcement plan approved. It is expected that all site clearance work will be completed in June 2025.
At the construction site, there are about 50 engineers and workers divided into 3 construction teams at the two bridge abutments, the approach road and the main dam. The contractors affirmed that they will focus on the construction according to the progress of the handed over site, making the most of favorable weather. However, the construction is still facing many difficulties because the site is not handed over seamlessly, especially in the approach road areas at both ends of the bridge.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien - Director of the Provincial Development Project Management Board said that after the site clearance is completed, the units will deploy the remaining items such as: Upper and lower embankments of the south bank; infrastructure on both banks; operator house; access roads at both ends of the bridge; installation of the last two girder spans and completion of the bridge deck with asphalt. The goal is to complete the entire project and put it into use by the end of 2025. The Management Board also recommended that the People's Committee of Nha Trang City continue to propagate and mobilize the remaining households to hand over the site soon, ensuring the progress of the project.
The project of the saltwater dam on Cai River in Nha Trang has a total investment of nearly 760 billion VND, from the central budget and the province's counterpart fund. The project is built 75m downstream from the railway bridge, in Ngoc Hiep ward (Nha Trang city). The project is built in the form of a pillar dam, including 5 compartments, each compartment is 30m wide, with a boat lock and a traffic bridge above. The total length of the bridge is 400m, including 9 spans; the width of the bridge is 26m, designed in two directions, with sidewalks on both sides, each side is 1.75m wide.
