Solemn Ceremony to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day, Receive the Title of "Heroic City" and Open the Red Flamboyant Festival 2025

Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025).

Attending the Ceremony were comrades: Luong Cuong, Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission; Vu Hong Thanh, Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mai Van Chinh, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister.

Delivering a speech at the Commemoration Ceremony, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau emphasized: After 70 years of construction and development, from a city devastated by war, Hai Phong has risen to become the leading economic, cultural, scientific - technological and service center of the country. In 2024, Hai Phong ranked 5th in economic scale, the only locality to maintain double-digit growth for a decade. The city ranked 3rd in state budget revenue, 2nd in FDI attraction and led the country in the following indicators: competitiveness, administrative reform, people's satisfaction and provincial green index. The fields of culture, society, education and health have many positive changes. Hai Phong has no more poor households and is a pioneer in social security policies such as 100% tuition exemption for students, vocational training support, care for people with meritorious services and vulnerable groups.

The Secretary of the City Party Committee affirmed that the proud achievements of Hai Phong today are the result of the wise leadership of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, and the support of the Committees, ministries, branches and other localities. It is also the crystallization of the glorious cultural and revolutionary tradition, the spirit of solidarity, creativity and the aspiration to rise of the Party Committee, the government, the army and the people of the city through the ages. The Party Committee, the government and the people of Hai Phong always remember and deeply appreciate the contributions of generations of leaders, cadres, soldiers, the people and the business community who have joined hands and united to build and develop the city.

Entering a new stage of development, Hai Phong clearly defines its role and responsibility in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country. The city aims to reach the regional level, becoming a modern international seaport city, a leading economic, educational, scientific and technological center.

With the viewpoint of "people are the root", Hai Phong implements four strategic focuses, which are: Building a strong Party and political system, operating effectively, attracting talents, creating a modern and attractive living environment for experts, intellectuals and workers; Promoting economic growth associated with innovation of development models, taking science - technology, digital transformation and green transformation as driving forces; developing strategic infrastructure such as seaports, airports, high-speed railways, towards the leading logistics and industrial center of the country; Developing culture - society in harmony with the economy, building a model of modern socialism with a democratic, fair and civilized society; people's lives are prosperous and happy; Strengthening national defense - security, building a regular, elite and modern armed force; maintaining social order and safety, developing Bach Long Vi into an economic - defense center of the northern sea.

Comrade Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, awarded the noble title "Heroic City" to the Party Committee, government and people of Hai Phong city.

At the Ceremony, in recognition of the contributions of the Party Committee, Government and People of Hai Phong City in the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland, the Party and State decided to confer the State honorary title "Heroic City" on the Party Committee, Government and People of Hai Phong City.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Luong Cuong congratulated and highly appreciated the achievements, results and great contributions in the struggle for national independence; as well as in the cause of innovation, construction, development of the country and firmly defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam of the Party Committee, government, people and armed forces of Hai Phong city over the past 70 years. On the basis of great and comprehensive achievements after 70 years of liberation, Hai Phong has all the conditions and opportunities to become a leading city in the cause of industrialization and modernization, on par with typical cities of Asia; contributing to the whole country entering an era of rapid, sustainable and prosperous development.

The President requested the Party Committee, government, army and people of the city to focus on implementing a number of key tasks: Building a strong, streamlined and effective Party and political system; preventing corruption and negativity; developing a team of high-quality cadres; Completing planning, expanding development space towards green and modern urban areas, developing riverside and coastal economies; Investing heavily in digital infrastructure, science and technology, innovation, promoting startups and implementing three strategic breakthroughs; Maximizing resources for socio-economic development, promoting administrative reform, improving the investment environment, ensuring social security; and strengthening national defense and security, maintaining stability for rapid and sustainable development.

Immediately after the Anniversary Ceremony, a special art program with the theme "Hai Phong - 70 years of faith and aspiration to rise up" opened the Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong 2025, with the participation of more than 1,000 professional and amateur artists and actors.

The art program is elaborately staged.

The art program was elaborately staged with three impressive segments: “Hai Phong - a sacred land, talented people”, “The heroic song of Loyalty and Victory” and “Hai Phong - belief and aspiration to rise up”. Each part is a vivid slice of the history, present and future aspirations of the Port City, expressed through the language of music, dance and live stage.

The program gathered many famous artists such as Tung Duong, Vu Thang Loi, Soobin Hoang Son, Phuong Linh, Hoang Bach, Anh Tu, Meritorious Artist Khanh Hoa, Lam Bao Ngoc... Songs praising the Party, Uncle Ho and Hai Phong city such as Hai Phong's epic song , Echoing Uncle Ho's voice in the autumn of the port city , My hometown's port , My childhood Hai Phong ... were performed with emotion, contributing to arousing pride and love for the homeland in the hearts of the audience.
