Teachers of the Hoc Maieducation system commented that the English exam for grade 10 in Hanoi in 2025 has a similar structure to the reference exam announced by the Department of Education and Training at the end of 2024, closely following the orientation of assessing language proficiency in a practical and flexible manner.
Notably, the proposal includes a number of new types of exercises such as: identifying signs, arranging paragraphs, reading and filling in short notices, reading comprehension and matching... showing a clear effort in approaching a modern way of testing and evaluating English proficiency, in line with the orientation of the new general education program.

The ratio of recognition - understanding - application questions is 20% - 40% - 40%. The test is classified but there are no tricky questions, no advanced vocabulary questions or difficult idioms.
The classification factor of the exam lies in the questions related to reading and reading comprehension to answer questions when working with the passage, requiring candidates to have the ability to reason and handle context well.
It is expected that many candidates will score 8-9 but the number of 10s will not be many.

In general, Ms. Ngoc Dung - an English teacher in Hanoi - said that the exam has a higher level than the 2024 exam.
The test is well classified, the topics are familiar to students, and are up-to-date, but requires students to be very careful and have solid knowledge to be able to get a score of 10.
Ms. Ngoc Dung predicts that Hanoi's 10-point English test score this year will be much lower than in 2024.
Huong Giang, a candidate at the Examination Council of Duong Noi Secondary School - the examination site for many candidates entering Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, said: "I am confident about 9-10 points."
According to Huong Giang, the English test was reasonable, with about 5 questions to classify candidates, many of which were close to life, and the reading passage about teenagers and current music made her quite interested.
Tien Trung, a candidate for Le Quy Don High School (Dong Da), said that the exam had many grammar questions but they were not too difficult. If he were to mark carefully, he would have done about 25/40 questions. "Overall, the exam was easy," the male student said.
Tomorrow morning, June 8, the general exam candidates will take the final exam subject, math, with a time limit of 120 minutes. Meanwhile, the candidates taking the specialized 10th grade exam have one more day of exam, June 9.
The 2025 Hanoi public 10th grade entrance exam has more than 103,000 candidates taking the exam. The total public enrollment target is about 81,000. The admission rate is 78.6%.
