The subjects with the fewest students choosing are technology (industry), information technology, biology, of which only about a dozen students chose to take information technology.

Ms. Nguyen Boi Quynh, Principal of Viet Duc High School, said that the whole school has 910 12th grade students registered for the exam this year. Of these, 728 students chose foreign languages, followed by physics with 331 students, history with 252 students, economic and legal education with 212 students, chemistry with 157 students, and biology with 29 students. Subjects that were held for the first time this year, such as information technology, only had 3 students registered, and no students registered for technology.

Similarly, Tran Phu High School - Hoan Kiem has 793 registered students, of which 689 students choose foreign languages. In Hai Phong, preliminary statistics from the Department of Education and Training show that the subject with the most students registering for the exam is foreign language, with 11,783 students. Next is geography with 9,173 students, physics with 9,039 students, history with 7,084 students, economic education and law with 6,201 students. The leader of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School (Hai Phong) informed that the whole school only had 1 student registered for the IT exam, no student took the technology exam.

At Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Nghe An), the number of students registering for the elective subject English is the highest in the province with 676 students. Next is physics with 390 students. The remaining subjects range from 100 - 200 students. The number of students registering for biology is 36 and for computer science is only 7...

In Quang Ninh, subjects that few students choose include biology, information technology, and technology.

In mountainous provinces such as Ha Giang, Son La, Lai Chau, the subjects that many students choose to take the exam are social subjects and not foreign languages ​​or information technology because these are not the strong subjects of students in these localities. The most chosen subjects are economic and legal education, history, geography, etc.

Experts and many teachers believe that many students choose social subjects because they calculate their chances of getting into university, because they think these subjects are easy and easy to get high scores, so they have more chances of being admitted. In addition, many students are afraid of natural subjects.

Ho Chi Minh City: High percentage of students choose natural sciences

Ho Chi Minh City students also completed registration for the 2025 high school graduation exam yesterday afternoon. Preliminary records at high schools show that the number of students choosing natural sciences accounts for a high proportion. Similarly, at Tay Thanh High School (Tan Phu District), English is still the subject with the highest number of students taking the exam with 674 students, followed by physics with 544 students, and chemistry with 229 students. The number of students choosing history and geography is only about 50% compared to the number of students choosing physics and chemistry. The subjects with much lower number of students choosing are economics and law education, and information technology.

At Ernst Thälmann High School (District 1), according to Mr. Nguyen Hung Khuong, the school's principal, statistics show that out of 513 12th grade students, 430 students chose English, 257 students chose physics, 118 students chose chemistry, 82 students chose economic and legal education, 56 students chose biology, 49 students chose history, and 34 students chose geography.

Mr. To Lam Vien Khoa, Vice Principal of Gia Dinh High School, explained that the majority of students choose English because it is a compulsory subject and a component in the admissions group for majors and universities. In addition, since grade 10, the school has taught intensive English and English with foreigners to all students, so students are confident when choosing this foreign language. Next, physics and chemistry are subjects in the popular groups for university admissions. Social subjects that few students in Ho Chi Minh City choose are also in line with the general trend of the school and the city in recent years. Information technology is too new for the graduation exam, so the number of choices is also very small.

Arrange separate exam locations for candidates taking the exam according to the old program

If in previous years, independent candidates would take the same exam scores as 12th grade candidates, this year there has been a change. Because this year there will be two types of exams: exams according to the 2018 General Education Program and exams according to the 2006 General Education Program (for independent candidates), the Ministry of Education and Training has decided that candidates taking the old program will take the exam at a separate location to ensure accuracy, science, and avoid errors and confusion in the organization, supervision, and grading of the exam.

To implement this policy, Hanoi plans to have 6 testing sites; Thanh Hoa has 5 testing sites for independent candidates to take the exam according to the old program; provinces with few candidates such as Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang... plan to arrange a separate testing site for this group of candidates.

Nearly 1.2 million candidates registered for high school graduation exam

Statistics from the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) show that as of 5:00 p.m. yesterday, April 28, the whole country had 1,165,289 candidates registered, an increase of nearly 98,000 candidates compared to 2024 (in 2024 there were 1,067,391 candidates).

The number of 12th grade students taking the exam according to the 2018 General Education Program is 1,122,507 (accounting for 96.33%). The number of independent students is 42,782 (accounting for 3.67%). Of which, the number of students taking the exam according to the 2018 General Education Program is 1.38%, and the number of students taking the exam according to the 2006 General Education Program is 2.29%.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, after the official exam registration period, the Departments of Education and Training will review, check, and edit the candidates' information, and review the candidates' reserved scores from April 28 to May 9. No later than May 13, the units registering for the exam must print the list of candidates registering for the exam and hand over the exam registration form to the candidates. After that, the units will check and cross-check the candidates' information no later than May 15. From May 16 to May 20, it is necessary to complete editing the candidates' information (if any).
