Taking practical action for children

"Safe cyberspace, digital citizens of the future" is a key theme in this year's Month of Action for Children.

Mr. Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: “Based on the plan in coordination with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the unit will carry out the proposed activities. Regarding the swimming lessons for children, we have instructed the District Youth Unions to direct the Commune Youth Unions to open swimming classes for children, achieving the highest possible effectiveness.”

“Following the directive from the higher-level Youth Union regarding the policy of teaching children to swim in the summer, the Commune Youth Union has proactively cleaned the swimming pools. After the launch ceremony of the Month of Action for Children, the classes will be immediately implemented. The teachers are also proactive, aiming for the most effective classes and determined to help children learn to swim after participating in the lessons,” said Phan Van Thach, Deputy Secretary of the Tam Giang Tay Commune Youth Union, Ngoc Hien District.

During the 2023 Children's Action Month and summer activities, all levels will strengthen their responsibilities and promote the pioneering and volunteer role of the Youth Union and Children's Union, along with cadres, civil servants, and youth union members, to jointly protect and care for children. The coordination between the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and other agencies and organizations will be promoted in implementing preventive measures, providing support, resolving issues related to children, and enforcing policies and laws on child protection.

"Innovate and diversify methods of caring for and organizing summer activities for children. Build a safe, friendly, and healthy living environment so that children can play, have fun, and fully exercise their rights, ensuring their holistic development and a happy, healthy, and safe summer," Ms. Nguyen Thu Tu emphasized.

Healthcare and ensuring the physical well-being and holistic development of children have always been a priority for all levels and sectors of government.

During the Action Month, the province will intensify propaganda activities on preventing injuries, abuse, and drowning among children; cultivate skills and improve the effectiveness of propaganda activities at all levels of the Youth Union, the Children's Union, and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, contributing to conveying messages, solutions, and innovative approaches in the work of preventing injuries, abuse, and drowning among children. It will also strengthen the mobilization of organizations, businesses, families, and individuals to support and contribute resources to jointly improve a safe, healthy living environment and promote the comprehensive development of children.

Organize communication campaigns to raise awareness and a sense of responsibility among agencies, organizations, individuals, families, and communities in addressing issues related to children, preventing and minimizing risks of child abuse, accidents, and injuries to children, especially drowning and traffic accidents.

Proactively guide children on life skills, self-protection skills, and other related issues appropriate to their age, maturity level, and development.

Continue to maintain the local youth volunteer team in residential areas by carrying out activities such as inspections, reviews, and placing warning signs in high-risk areas prone to drowning and traffic accidents involving children.

Actively mobilize social resources to build recreational and play areas for children; reading spaces, interactive spaces, and Youth Union activity areas; build, repair, and decorate child-friendly toilets and Red Scarf Houses; award scholarships, gifts, school supplies, and means of transportation to school to help children have better conditions for learning and living, and prepare for the new school year…

To ensure children have a meaningful summer, the Month of Action for Children includes practical activities, and coordination with relevant sectors has been strengthened to ensure children live in a safe and healthy environment.
