
On the afternoon of March 3, at the Government Office , Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Turkey is Vietnam's leading important partner in the Middle East region; expressed his delight at the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries in recent times, especially since the official visit to Turkey by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (November 2023), in which economic cooperation is a highlight.
Bilateral trade turnover in 2024 will reach 2.4 billion USD, up 10% compared to 2023; Türkiye will continue to be the largest foreign investor from the region in Vietnam with a total investment capital of 1.74 billion USD, up 75% compared to 2023.
To develop the relationship between the two countries in an increasingly practical and effective manner, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that the two sides coordinate to implement priority cooperation contents, including completing the upgrading of Vietnam-Turkey relations; continuing to promote the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones; coordinating and supporting each other at international organizations; and improving the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Joint Committee and Political Consultation.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son respectfully conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's invitation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to soon pay an official visit to Vietnam and attend the 4th Summit of the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G).
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed that Turkey attaches importance to its relations with Vietnam, Turkey's leading partner in Southeast Asia; said that Turkey is actively promoting the early completion of upgrading relations with Vietnam in the coming time and wishes to promote cooperation with ASEAN.
Minister Hakan Fidan highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts in organizing the P4G Conference and believed that the event would be a great success, demonstrating Vietnam's strong commitment to join hands with the international community in promoting green growth, combating climate change and sustainable development.
