Weather on November 16: Rain in some places in the North, cold in the early morning and at night

The strong cold air mass continues to move south. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that around November 17, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast and North Central regions, then affect the Northwest and North Central regions. On land, strong Northeast winds will be at level 3-4, and coastal areas at level 4-5.

On November 17-18, the Northern region will have rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places.

From the night of November 17, the weather in the North and North Central regions will turn cold, with some areas in the high mountains of the North experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature during this cold spell in the North and North Central regions will generally be 12-15 degrees Celsius, with some places in the high mountains below 10 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi area: November 17-18 will have rain and showers, from the night of November 17 the weather will turn cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 13-15 degrees Celsius.

At sea, from the evening and night of November 17, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind gradually increases to level 7, sometimes level 8, gusting to level 9, rough seas, waves 3-5m high; in the North East Sea, the Northeast wind gradually increases to level 7-8, gusting to level 9-10, rough seas, waves 4-6m high; from November 18, in the area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the Northeast wind gradually increases to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 4-6m high.

Due to the influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, there is widespread heavy rain in the area from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa.

Accordingly, from early morning of November 16 to early morning of November 18, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang city, the east of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 200-400mm, locally over 550mm. The area of Ha Tinh, the east of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces will have heavy rain, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall from 100-250mm, locally over 350mm.

From November 16 to the end of the night of November 17, the western provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will have moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall from 60-120mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm. Risk of heavy rain >200mm/3 hours.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned that on the day and night of November 18, in Hue City, Da Nang City, the eastern part of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces, there will be heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100-200mm, locally over 300mm; in the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri, the eastern part of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces, 50-100mm, locally over 150mm; in the western part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, common rainfall of 40-80mm, locally over 150mm.

Total rainfall from the night of November 15 to the end of the night of November 18 in the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang city, the East of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai is generally 300-600mm/period, locally over 850mm/period; in the Ha Tinh area, the East of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces, it is generally 150-350mm/period, locally over 500mm/period; in the West of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak provinces, rainfall is generally from 100-200mm/period, locally over 350mm/period.

From November 19, widespread heavy rain continued to occur in Da Nang City and provinces from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa.

In addition, on November 16-18, the Southern region will have moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall of 50-100mm, locally over 150mm.
