New information about the fake medicine case in Thanh Hoa

According to the latest information, through initial analysis and testing by specialized agencies, the majority of the content in fake oriental medicines is painkillers. When patients buy and take these medicines (mainly for bone and joint diseases), they will feel pain relief immediately. Therefore, patients will trust and continue to buy fake medicines from this group of subjects.

Regarding the group of fake Western medicines, no toxic medicinal properties have been detected yet, but they do not have antibiotic medicinal properties as the instructions printed on the packaging.

Subjects in the fake drug ring were arrested

To produce the above counterfeit drugs, the subjects bought raw materials such as starch, adhesives, pharmaceutical additives, bamboo charcoal, colorants, etc., then mixed and packaged them into medicine.

Notably, none of the 14 arrested subjects had expertise in drug production.

Police took Nguyen Tien Dat's statement.

Previously, as reported by Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, the Economic Police Department (Thanh Hoa Provincial Police) in coordination with related units has just dismantled a fake medicine production ring led by Nguyen Tien Dat (born in 1991, residing in Hapulico apartment building, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi) and Trinh Doan Giao (born in 1985, residing in Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh City).

The police force searched and seized 21 types of fake Western medicine and bone and joint medicine; raw materials for the production of fake medicine including: more than 18,000 boxes of various types, 142kg of pills, tablets, powders and many machines and equipment for production activities,... The total weight of fake medicine and raw materials for making fake medicine is nearly 10 tons.

Initially, the subjects confessed that from 2021 until their arrest, they had sold a large quantity of fake drugs to the market, illegally earning an estimated profit of nearly 200 billion VND.
