Information about Dong Trieu town swimming tournament in 2023

On the morning of June 25, at Cam River (Dong Trieu), the 45th Traditional Bach Dang River Swimming Tournament of Quang Ninh Province and the 29th Traditional Dong Trieu Town Swimming Tournament in 2023 took place.

Participating in the traditional Bach Dang River Swimming Tournament in Quang Ninh province are 39 athletes from Ha Long city, Quang Yen town and Dong Trieu town.

Participating in the Traditional Swimming Tournament of Dong Trieu town are 56 athletes from 21 communes, wards, businesses and schools in the area.

Athletes compete in 4 categories: Young women, young men, main women and main men.

At the traditional Bach Dang River Swimming Tournament in Quang Ninh province, all athletes started and finished safely.

Dong Trieu town's traditional swimming tournament, after the first 3 rounds, the athletes started and finished safely, but in the 4th round (main male), athlete Tran Dinh Khiem, born in 2005, in Yen Hop area, Yen Tho ward, belonging to the swimming team of Yen Tho ward, Dong Trieu town, drowned.

Immediately after the incident, the authorities at the scene urgently carried out search and rescue plans. At 1:25 p.m. the same day, the body of athlete Tran Dinh Khiem was found and brought to Dong Trieu Town Medical Center.

Before the incident, Dong Trieu town organized a visit, encouragement and sharing with the family of athlete Tran Dinh Khiem.

Authorities are investigating to clarify the cause of death.
