Quang Ninh informs about the death of a 12th grade student while participating in a swimming competition

Previously, on the morning of the same day (June 25), at Cam River (Dong Trieu Town), the 45th Bach Dang Traditional River Swimming Tournament of Quang Ninh Province and the 29th Dong Trieu Town Traditional Swimming Tournament in 2023 took place.

According to initial reports, the traditional Bach Dang River Swimming Tournament in Quang Ninh province has 39 athletes from localities in Quang Ninh province, including: Ha Long city, Quang Yen town and Dong Trieu town.

Participating in the Dong Trieu Town Traditional Swimming Tournament are 56 athletes from 21 communes, wards, businesses, and schools in the area.

Athletes compete in the following categories: young women, young men, main women and main men, and the main and youth team events with distances from 1 - 3 km.

At the traditional Bach Dang River Swimming Tournament in Quang Ninh province, all athletes started and finished safely.

At the Dong Trieu Town Traditional Swimming Tournament, after the first 3 rounds, the athletes started and finished safely. In the 4th round (main male), athlete T.D.Kh (18 years old, residing in Yen Hop area, Yen Tho ward), belonging to the swimming team of Yen Tho ward, Dong Trieu town, had an accident and sank.

Immediately after the incident, the authorities at the scene actively searched; at the same time, they mobilized 50 soldiers, rescue forces and 10 ships and boats to search along the river.

At 1:25 p.m. the same day, the body of athlete T.D.Kh was found and brought to Dong Trieu Town Medical Center.

Before the incident, Dong Trieu Town organized a visit, encouragement, and sharing with the family of athlete Kh.

Authorities of Quang Ninh province are investigating the death of a 12th grade male student participating in a swimming competition in Dong Trieu town (Quang Ninh).
