Mimosa Pass reopens after 10 days of traffic disruption

On the evening of November 30, Mimosa Pass (National Highway 20, section through Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, Lam Dong) was reopened after more than 10 days of temporary suspension of traffic, declaring an emergency situation due to landslides that completely broke off a section of the pass.

The broken Mimosa Pass section at Km226+500 – Km226+800 has been replaced by a new road, wide enough for two-way traffic.

Accordingly, from 6 p.m. on the same day, the construction unit fixing the incident on Mimosa Pass organized traffic diversion, allowing all vehicles to pass through Mimosa Pass. The broken section of the pass at Km226+500 - Km226+800 has now been replaced by a new road, dug close to the positive slope by the construction unit. The roadbed is asphalted, wide enough for two large cars to pass each other. However, because the replacement road has a large curve and is difficult to observe, the construction unit still has signs and hazard warning lights for vehicles to pay attention.

According to the reporter's observation, before the opening time, many vehicles (mainly large trucks) were waiting in line to pass through the replacement road section of the landslide site, which is being completed by the construction unit in the final stages. Before that, during the closure of Mimosa Pass, all trucks had to travel to the center of Da Lat in the direction of Ta Nung Pass (about 20km further to Mimosa Pass).

Vehicles wait for the road to be cleared through the replacement section for the landslide on Mimosa Pass, Da Lat, evening of November 30.

As reported by VNA, on the night of November 19, a serious landslide occurred on Mimosa Pass, causing a section of road several dozen meters long to break off and slide down the cliff. The incident did not cause any loss of life or property, but it completely paralyzed the pass, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

Mimosa Pass (parallel to Prenn Pass) is about 10km long, mainly for trucks of all kinds traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to the center of Da Lat. Previously, on the afternoon of November 25, Prenn Pass, the main gateway of Da Lat, also allowed all vehicles (except trucks) to circulate again after being severely eroded. Currently, the main mountain passes leading to the center of Da Lat have returned to normal operation, contributing to ensuring traffic for vehicles transporting passengers and goods, serving the socio -economic development of the locality.
