The new feature, announced on September 15th through a post on the Threads platform, states that users can now enable notifications to follow a topic for 24 hours. This feature is exclusive to the mobile app and not available for web users.
Threads adds more features to compete with other social networks.
This news was shared by Instagram head Adam Mosseri. He said, "This isn't the only feature the platform is launching this week. On the web, you can now also quote other posts on Threads," according to PhoneArena .
To follow a topic and receive notifications when someone replies to it, simply tap the bell icon in the top right corner of the topic. When someone replies, you'll receive a notification in your activity tab.
If you're concerned about privacy, you should know that there's no way for others to know you're following that topic. Additionally, you can turn off notifications anytime you want by tapping the bell icon again.
This is the latest feature the platform has rolled out to users to combat the decline in the number of daily active users. One of the most notable recent features is Keyword Search, which was absent from the platform at launch.
Previously, the social media platform X planned to offer video and audio calling features as billionaire Elon Musk was rushing to build an "everything app" to get ahead in the competition from MetaPlatforms' Threads.
