Land acquisition for high-tech electric wire and cable factory project in Bat Xat district

The decision of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee to reclaim land at the high-tech electric wire and cable factory project in Bat Xat district of Nexus Technologies and Cable Company Limited is due to the fact that this unit violated the 2024 Land Law.

A part of the land area of ​​over 15.7 hectares (next to Ban Qua Copper Smelting Factory) was leased by the Provincial People's Committee to Nexus Technologies and Cable Company Limited from 2022 to build a high-tech electric wire and cable factory.

Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee has just issued Notice No. 35/TB-UBND on land recovery for Nexus Technologies and Cable Company Limited due to violations of land laws as prescribed in Clause 8, Article 81, Land Law 2024. The recovered land area is ^157,781.6m2 , at plot No. 2, measurement plot No. DT34 - 2019, on map sheet No. 11, in Tan Hong village, Ban Qua commune, Bat Xat district (land leased by Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 70/QD-UBND, dated January 12, 2022). The land recovery period is from April 18 to May 15, 2025.

Accordingly, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee requested Nexus Technologies and Cable Company Limited to be responsible for handling and moving all assets out of the land acquisition area before May 15, 2025.

After more than 3 years of implementation, the project to build a high-tech electric wire and cable factory in Ban Qua commune, Bat Xat district is still "still".

It is known that the above-mentioned recovered land area of ​​Nexus Technologies and Cable Co., Ltd. (Korea) was leased by Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 70/QD-UBND, dated January 12, 2022 to implement the high-tech electric wire and cable factory project with a total investment of VND 1,900 billion.

This is the largest FDI project of Korea in Lao Cai in developing high-tech industry. The entire technological chain is manufactured in Europe, with the factory design capacity of 60,000 tons of products/year.

According to the schedule, phase I is expected to be completed in 2024 and phase II in 2026. Phase I will produce civil electric wires, phase II will produce high voltage electric cables, but up to now, the project has not been implemented and the completion date is unknown.
