Attracting businesses from Goyang City (Korea) to invest in Da Nang's high-tech sector

At the meeting, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong gave an overview of the city's socio -economic development in recent years, with achievements and awards recognized by the country and international friends such as: Vietnam Smart City in the field of "Smart City of Operation, Management - Infrastructure - Public Services"; "Smart, Green, Clean Environmental Management City"; "City Attractive for Innovative Startups".

Regarding the city's development orientation in the coming time, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong said that Da Nang focuses on developing five key areas: tourism and high-quality services associated with resort real estate; seaports and aviation associated with logistics services; high-tech industry associated with building creative and start-up urban areas; information technology, electronics and telecommunications industry associated with the digital economy; high-tech agricultural products and fisheries.

“The development orientation of Da Nang has many similarities with the strengths of Goyang city; therefore, we hope that today's meeting will be the first step for the two localities to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee shared.

On that basis, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong proposed that the two cities cooperate to attract Goyang enterprises to invest in Da Nang in high-tech fields (IT, electronics), MICE tourism cooperation; share experiences in building and developing Free Trade Zones; environmental cities, smart cities, and key traffic urban areas.

Agreeing with Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong's assessment of the similarities between Da Nang and Goyang, Mayor Lee Dong Hwan said that, with its location near the economic center of Seoul, Goyang City is an important commercial and service center, with many developed industrial parks and business districts. Goyang has a strongly developed electronics and information technology industry; is one of the world's leading cities in achieving the goal of carbon neutrality; and is a destination that attracts a large number of tourists through the organization of many annual events and festivals.

In particular, Goyang City was designated by the Korean Government as a representative city in 2022, with autonomy in city operations; Goyang is also actively promoting the development of free economic zones and expanding exchanges with overseas cities.

“The five development orientations of Da Nang city are also the development goals that Goyang city is aiming for. This is a link that helps open up many cooperation opportunities, enhancing the relationship between the two localities in terms of trade investment, tourism, people-to-people exchange... in the coming time, contributing to the development of friendly cooperation between the two countries”, Mayor of Goyang city Lee Dong Hwan expressed.
