Thanh Hoa police collect DNA samples at the gathering point for martyrs' relatives.
Through the resistance wars, struggles for national liberation and protection of the Fatherland, tens of thousands of Thanh Hoa's elite children have followed the sacred call of the Fatherland, bravely fought and sacrificed. The blood and bones of the martyrs have merged with the motherland, contributing to the heroic and immortal history of the Vietnamese people.
Through the current review, Thanh Hoa province has 37,720 martyrs whose graves have not been identified. Many outstanding sons of Thanh Hoa have heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and are still lying somewhere in the land and sky; many martyrs have not been called by their correct names, and have not returned to the loving arms of their families. Therefore, identifying the DNA of the martyrs, to bring them back to their families, is an urgent task to partly compensate for the pain of war.
With the determination to return the names of martyrs, the Party and State are implementing the construction of a gene bank (DNA) to identify the remains of martyrs with missing information. Thanh Hoa province is one of the pioneering localities in collecting and updating information on martyrs' relatives to serve the DNA analysis process. This is a work of profound human significance, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "Repaying gratitude" of our nation.
From July 3, 2025 to July 27, 2025, the whole province collected 36,845 samples, completing the collection of DNA samples for 100% of martyrs' relatives. The estimated funding for testing and identification is about VND 82,901,250,000. In the past time, the Provincial Police have pioneered and actively deployed information, calling on police officers and soldiers, organizations and individuals to support funding with an amount of VND 15,423,700,000 to carry out testing and identification.
