Accompanying the Cuban delegation were the newly appointed Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes and the Minister Counselor in charge of Economy , Ms. Maylem Lourdes Rivero Silva. On the Vietnamese side, there were representatives from the European-American Market Department, the Legal Department, the Planning-Finance Department, and the Electricity and Renewable Energy Department.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment and agriculture . Cuban Minister Ydael Pérez Brito shared information on the transformation of Cuba's agricultural development model and opportunities for cooperation in developing agricultural investment and trade with Cuba. The Minister emphasized new steps in opening the market for agricultural materials and machinery, incentives from the Cuban Government, and hoped that Vietnamese enterprises would participate in supplying products to Cuba.
Representing the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, Deputy Minister Deborah Rivas Saavedra provided information on the economic, trade and investment situation of Cuba; expressed her willingness to cooperate with Vietnam in the fields of trade, industry and energy. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba also shared some potential for cooperation in production of Vietnam's strong industries on the basis of taking advantage of available facilities in Cuba.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam highly appreciated the innovations in Cuba's economic development strategy and welcomed the proposal of Minister of Agriculture Ydael Perez Brito and Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Deborah Rivas Saavedra. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long agreed and affirmed that Vietnam is always ready to cooperate with Cuba and will discuss with Vietnamese enterprises about the potential and opportunities for cooperation in Cuba.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long thanked the delegation of the Cuban Minister of Agriculture and the Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment for taking the time to work and wished the delegation a successful working trip in Vietnam.
