| Queen Mother Sirikit is considered one of the most important symbols of modern Thai royalty, deeply attached to the long reign of the late King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX). She was born on August 12, 1932 in Bangkok, with the title Mom Rajawongse Sirikit Kitiyakara, the daughter of Prince Nakkhatra Mangala and Mom Luang Bua Kitiyakara. During her more than seven decades of service to the Royal Family and the country, Her Majesty Queen Mother Sirikit was revered for her humanitarian work, community development and preservation of Thai culture. She was also known as a steadfast companion and symbol of loyalty to the late King Bhumibol, who reigned Thailand for 70 years – from 1946 to 2016. |
