Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure to meet the Governor-General and his wife again after the Governor-General and his wife's state visit to Vietnam in April 2023; and expressed his gratitude for the warm and respectful welcome that the Australian people, the Governor-General and his wife personally gave to the Prime Minister, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully conveyed to the Governor-General the regards of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and key leaders of Vietnam; and congratulated Australia on successfully organizing the Special Summit to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations.
The Prime Minister thanked Australia for its valuable support to Vietnam in the past and present, notably the construction of the My Thuan and Cao Lanh bridges in the Mekong Delta, helping Vietnam transport a field hospital to South Sudan to participate in the United Nations peacekeeping force, and training high-quality human resources for Vietnam.
Governor General David Hurley recalled his good impressions of his visit to Vietnam, including planting a souvenir tree with President Vo Van Thuong at the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department in Thach That; and expressed his wish to return to visit Vietnam soon.
The Governor-General said that he had heard Prime Minister Anthony Albanese report on the good results of the Special Summit to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations, including the active contributions of the Vietnamese delegation; and assessed that the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 of the Australian Government's Special Envoy to Southeast Asia has many important cooperation contents, which are the basis for Australia to build stronger relations with ASEAN countries.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the good development of bilateral relations after more than half a century of establishing diplomatic relations, and agreed to strengthen cooperation in education, culture and people-to-people exchange.
The two leaders also appreciated the two countries' upgrading of relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on this occasion, considering this an important milestone in developing the Vietnam-Australia relationship further deeply and strongly, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries and actively contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Australia to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, work and study in Australia; maintain the Vietnamese language, traditions and culture; facilitate procedures for Vietnamese students and welcome Australian citizens to study, work, do business and invest in Vietnam.
The Australian Governor-General proposed that Vietnam continue to facilitate major Australian universities to open training facilities in Vietnam.

On the afternoon of March 7, at the Parliament House, Canberra, Australia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure to visit the peaceful and hospitable country of Australia and thanked President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines for the warm and thoughtful welcome. The Prime Minister respectfully conveyed the regards and invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, looking forward to welcoming President of the Senate Sue Lines to Vietnam soon.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the official visit to Australia by the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation is of great significance, demonstrating the desire to work with Australia to further consolidate and deepen bilateral relations, as well as enhance close cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Australian Parliament, contributing to opening up new cooperation prospects in the coming time.
The Prime Minister shared that Vietnam today has achieved many achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, and has never had the potential, prestige and position as it does today. These successes are partly thanks to the cooperation and support of international friends, including Australia. Australian Senate President Sue Lines warmly welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on their official visit to Australia, expressing her delight at the strong development of bilateral relations over the past 50 years and the recent establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries during this visit; and her hope to deepen the relationship in the coming time.
The President of the Australian Senate said that she will soon visit Vietnam and the visit is to implement the cooperation agreement between the two parliaments signed in 2022. Recalling the very good impressions of the country and people of Vietnam during her previous visit, President of the Senate Sue Lines strongly believes in the development of Vietnam, as well as the bright future of the relationship between the two countries.
The two leaders agreed to further strengthen people-to-people diplomacy, cooperate in combating climate change, and open direct flights to expand cooperation in education, training, and tourism. The two sides also shared experiences on issues of mutual concern such as gender equality, support for vulnerable groups, ethnic minorities, remote areas, and people with disabilities.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two National Assemblies continue to fully implement the Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Australian Parliament signed during the official visit to Australia by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue in 2022, and hoped that the Australian Parliament would cooperate with the Vietnamese National Assembly to support the agreements signed between the two countries to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

Australian House of Representatives looks forward to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework with Vietnam
On the afternoon of March 7, in Canberra, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Ms. Sharon Claydon, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chairwoman of the Australia-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group and colleagues.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sincerely thanked the thoughtful, respectful and warm reception that the Parliamentary Friendship Group, the Government and people of Australia gave to the Vietnamese delegation; leaving deep impressions of a beautiful, peaceful, developed and hospitable Australia.
The Prime Minister thanked Australia for supporting Vietnam over the years in war recovery and socio-economic development, especially in providing ODA to Vietnam, most recently in preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister proposed that the National Assembly and Parliament of the two countries continue to support and supervise the implementation and concretization of commitments between the two Governments, realizing the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in an increasingly profound, practical and effective manner.
The Prime Minister proposed that the two sides cooperate to renew traditional growth drivers of investment, export and consumption; strongly promote new growth drivers, such as digital economy, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy, knowledge economy; and request Australia to continue to create conditions and grant scholarships to Vietnamese students; and have more open policies on labor and visas for Vietnamese people doing business and living in Australia.
Considering Australia a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Australia consider and recognize the Vietnamese community living in Australia as an ethnic minority of Australia.
The Australian Liberal Party supports and values relations with Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at his first official visit to Australia and the opportunity to meet with Liberal Party Leader Peter Dutton. The Prime Minister stressed that the Vietnamese Government and people wish to further consolidate and deepen the relationship between the two countries, and work together to implement the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening up new prospects for cooperation in the coming time.
The two leaders agreed to increase delegation exchanges and high-level contacts; promote Party-channel diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges; create conditions for friendship associations of the two countries to organize cultural, sports and charity activities; enhance practical cooperation between localities; promote cooperation in the field of gender equality and protection of rights for vulnerable groups, etc.
