On August 1, at the Presidential Palace, New Delhi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President Droupadi Murmu during his state visit to India, according to the Government Electronic Information Portal.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated India on its great achievements in economic development, science and technology, national defense and security, infrastructure development, and the continuous improvement of people's lives.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the President and the Government of India for their condolences and touching gestures on the passing of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese people and a close friend of the Indian people.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam always remembers India's valuable support in the past struggle for national liberation, as well as in the current national construction and development; thanked India during the COVID-19 pandemic, for supporting Vietnam with ventilators, oxygen generators, and masks. Vietnam also donated a number of ventilators and medical equipment to India, demonstrating that the two countries always stand side by side in difficult times.
Vietnam always supports and hopes that India will develop further and have an increasingly high role and position in the region and internationally.
President Droupadi Murmu emphasized that Vietnam and India have a long-standing traditional friendship, which has been carefully cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
The President expressed his delight that the relationship between the two countries has developed strongly over the past years, especially since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2016. Exchanges of delegations and cooperation between the two countries have developed at all levels and channels; all areas of cooperation have made great strides.
President Droupadi Murmu highly appreciated the results of the talks between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, especially the two sides' adoption of a Joint Statement on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and deepening cooperation areas on the basis of "Five More". The President believes that the documents signed on this occasion will be actively implemented by both sides.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and asked the President to continue to pay attention to and support the Vietnam-India relationship, especially defense cooperation, continue to support Vietnam with preferential credit packages, training, capacity building, encourage the implementation of measures to achieve the goal of doubling two-way trade, investment, and tourism from now to 2030, and increase the frequency of direct flights to contribute to promoting exchanges between people and localities of the two countries.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed President To Lam's regards and invitation to President Droupadi Murmu to arrange a visit to Vietnam in the near future.
