At noon on November 20 (local time, early morning on November 21 Vietnam time), right after the talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President of the Dominican Republic Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona co-chaired a press conference.
Dominican Republic wants to boost cooperation with Vietnam
The two leaders witnessed the signing of documents including the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Joint Committee to promote trade and technology between the two countries and the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Diplomatic Academy of the Dominican Republic.
Speaking to the press, President Luis Abinader said that since the establishment of the Embassy in Hanoi, one of the strategic goals of the country has been to promote and further enhance relations with Vietnam. He explained that this goal stems from the fact that the two countries share many similar goals, especially in the fields of economy and industry, which are complementary to each other.
Recalling the time when the Dominican Republic was ravaged by African swine fever, Mr. Luis Abinader shared that thanks to Vietnamese vaccines, the country was successful in controlling the epidemic. This is a testament to the complementarity between the two countries despite their geographical distance.

Affirming the important significance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit, President Luis Abinader said that during the talks, he and the head of the Vietnamese Government discussed measures to promote bilateral relations, including in the fields of defense, telecommunications , oil and tourism, in which Vietnam has great potential.
The Dominican Republic leader affirmed his desire to continue promoting cooperation with the Vietnamese Government for the benefit of the people of the two countries, concretizing goals with the active participation of the business communities of both sides.

Platform to take relations to new heights
Expressing his sincere gratitude for the warm welcome from the Dominican Republic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the visit will create new momentum and impetus for the relationship between the two countries.
He also pointed out six common points that are the foundation for promoting the relationship between the two countries to new heights in the coming time. These include very high political trust; the two economies can complement and promote each other's development; they both value friendship and have the same aspiration to build a strong and prosperous country.
In front of the press, the Prime Minister also said that he had made proposals to President Luis Abinader regarding the negotiation and signing of a number of agreements that are the legal foundation to promote comprehensive relations between the two countries.
Specifically, the four agreements include: Free Trade Agreement; Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement; Agreement on Cultural Cooperation, Education, Training, Tourism, People-to-People Exchange; and Visa Agreement to create the best conditions for exchanges between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pointed out that the two countries have great potential for cooperation in digital transformation, digital economic development, digital society, especially telecommunications development, digital transformation for the disadvantaged and disadvantaged areas.
In addition, there is also cooperation in energy exploitation (including oil and gas, solar energy, offshore wind power); agriculture; tourism; vaccine production, etc. These are important and very feasible areas for cooperation because there are large corporations and state-owned enterprises.
The head of the Vietnamese Government also said that he and President Luis Abinader clearly expressed the spirit in the talks that "what is said must be done, what is committed must be done; what is done, what is done must bring about specific products, measurable results".
In that spirit, the two sides agreed to immediately implement a number of specific tasks to implement the agreements reached, bringing benefits to both countries and the region.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh extended invitations from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the leaders of the Dominican Republic to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2025.
He also expressed hope that on this occasion, the two countries will elevate their relationship and sign cooperation documents to bring bilateral relations increasingly deeper, more substantive and more effective.
