Just three days after the humiliating 0-5 defeat to PSG in the 2024-2025 Champions League final, coach Simone Inzaghi officially parted ways with Inter Milan.
The 49-year-old is said to be receiving an attractive offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.
Within 3 years, Inter has fallen twice in the final, especially the latest defeat against PSG was too humiliating.
They had previously been on the verge of a historic treble at the end of April, but were beaten by city rivals AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-finals and saw Napoli win Serie A by just one point.
The decision to terminate the contract was made in a meeting between coach Simone Inzaghi and the club's board of directors. According to ESPN, Al-Hilal has shown special interest in Inzaghi, making an irresistible offer with a salary of more than 20 million euros per season.
Sharing about this decision, Inter President Giuseppe Marotta said: "I would like to thank Simone Inzaghi for his dedication, passion and sincerity in today's negotiations. In the end, the mutual decision is to go our separate ways."
Coach Simone Inzaghi left Inter after 4 years, 217 matches in charge and 6 major titles won, including a Serie A championship.
Speaking about his departure, he said: "The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a four-year journey where I have given everything I have. Every day, Inter is my first and last thought."
“I would like to thank our shareholders as well as the chairman and his team for their day-to-day support. We have been frank and together we have decided to end this wonderful journey.”
Most recently, on June 1, Inter Milan lost 0-5 to PSG in the 2024-2025 Champions League final.
