Nearly 104,000 candidates in Hanoi completed procedures to take the 10th grade entrance exam this morning, June 6. During the training session with more than 200 exam site leaders, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training emphasized that invigilators must thoroughly disseminate regulations, especially regulations on candidates' responsibilities.
"This is the first year of applying the new regulations, so candidates need to pay special attention to the list of allowed and prohibited items to bring into the exam room," the leader of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training reminded.
According to regulations, candidates are only allowed to bring pens, rulers, pencils, erasers, set squares, compasses, graphing rulers, drawing tools, handheld calculators without text editing functions and no memory cards. So the new point in this year's exam is that candidates are not allowed to bring into the exam room geography atlases, periodic tables and solubility tables.
Prohibited items that candidates need to pay attention to include carbon paper, erasers, alcoholic beverages, weapons, explosives/flammable substances, documents, communication equipment (information receiving and transmitting, audio and video recorders), mobile phones... These items are not only prohibited from being brought into the exam room but also prohibited from being brought into the waiting room (a room arranged for candidates to wait before being called into the exam room).
The leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also requested that examination boards pay special attention to invigilators to remind candidates to check their phones before entering the waiting room or examination room. Examination sites must arrange places to store candidates' personal belongings and phones to ensure the prescribed distance.
Hanoi has had problems with exam papers such as missing pages, blurred papers, and technical errors. Therefore, one of the instructions from the steering committee for this year’s 10th grade entrance exam is to inform candidates to check the exam papers within the first five minutes of being distributed.
In case of discovering missing pages, blurred printing, torn pages, or technical errors, candidates must immediately report to the supervisor. In case of any problems with the exam, the head of the examination site will compare it with the original exam paper kept at the council to promptly resolve the issue, ensuring the rights of candidates.
"After calculating the test time, if the candidate does not give any feedback, the candidate will be responsible for any problems related to the test," the exam steering committee emphasized.
Invigilators of examination boards are also reminded of situations such as candidates forgetting their exam tools or personal papers. In these situations, invigilators instruct candidates to stay calm so that the examination board can assist and handle the situation, and not to leave the examination room or examination area to take things, leading to violations of examination regulations.
In cases where candidates forget their exam notice or ID card, they will be asked to write a commitment following the invigilator's instructions to take the exam normally.
Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in the training session to prepare for the exam, emphasized the need to closely coordinate with relevant units to have plans to prevent epidemics and diseases, ensure environmental hygiene, prepare enough medical supplies and equipment to be ready to take care of candidates' health in harsh weather conditions. Especially, there is a plan to promptly handle traffic jams in situations of heavy rain and flooding.
Prevent candidates from going to the wrong exam location
The Hanoi Examination Steering Committee recommends that candidates pay close attention to the exam schedule and time to be present at the exam site during the exam registration procedure. Avoid going to the wrong exam site as happened in previous years, leading to having to stop the exam.
The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year will take place on June 7 and 8 with subjects including literature, math, and foreign language (for non-specialized students).
Candidates applying to specialized schools managed by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, after completing the same exams as non-specialized candidates, will take an additional specialized subject exam on June 9.

Da Nang : the exam has many real-life situations

As one of the localities that has completed organizing the 10th grade entrance exam according to the new program in 2025, many teachers and students agree that this year's exam has many real-life situations but is not too new if students practice the questions diligently.
Minh Anh (a candidate at Tran Phu High School) shared: "Even in dry subjects like math and English, there are still very practical and vivid questions. For example, the math questions have questions about building a swimming pool, a crow drinking water from a jar, a couple of friends being given lucky draw tickets... This type of question makes candidates feel new and less bored, but because of that, the questions are quite long and confusing to read."
Ms. Le Thi Xuan Dao, a literature teacher at Tay Son Secondary School (Hai Chau District), assessed that the structure of this year's literature exam is suitable for the requirements and objectives of the program. However, the language used in the exam is quite long, so if students are not mentally strong, they can easily be "overwhelmed" when reading the exam.
Mr. Vo Thanh Phuoc, principal of Nguyen Hue Secondary School, assessed that the English test was closely following the new curriculum, practical, close, suitable for students' ability and clearly classified. The test had enough sections to help students develop good daily communication skills. Students expect to achieve high scores as desired in this innovative test.
Regarding math, Mr. Phuoc said that the test includes many practical problems, which are not difficult but students need to understand the reality to be able to do it. Compared to the old program, the new program adds three chapters on probability, statistics and practical geometry, but the level of requirements is only limited to understanding and low application.
"I hope that the exam questions under the new program will apply knowledge from the chapters, integrate practical but gentle problems, and be closely related to life so that students can see the beauty of mathematics. However, to do that, students must change their learning methods, read and understand the questions carefully and practice problem-solving skills," said Mr. Phuoc.
Regarding literature, according to him, the questions are lighter and more realistic, accurately assessing students' abilities, reducing the pressure of "hitting the mark" and "going off track" because they do not use materials in textbooks. In general, Mr. Phuoc believes that making questions according to the new program that are lighter and closely follow the content is very necessary, in line with the spirit of the 2018 General Education Program.
"In the coming time, the expectation is that the exam trend should reduce pressure on students and be closer to reality. In addition, we must change the way we learn, teach and review because otherwise, there will be no connection between expectations and reality," said Mr. Phuoc.

On June 5, nearly 11,000 candidates in Can Tho took the math and foreign language exams. Today, June 6, students will take the literature exam (essay, 120 minutes) and on June 7, students will take the specialized subjects exam (150 minutes) at Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted.
According to the Can Tho Department of Education and Training, this is the first exam for students studying under the new general education program, so the exam content will closely follow the 2018 General Education Program.
At the exam council of Chau Van Liem High School (Ninh Kieu district), after finishing the math exam, most of the candidates who were asked rated the exam as being within their ability, and the questions were within the review outline of the teachers at school.
Vo Thanh Phuoc, a 9th grade student at Chu Van An Secondary School (Ninh Kieu District), said that the math exam only had one advanced shape math question, the rest were from the knowledge he had learned. As for the foreign language exam (English and French), most candidates commented that the exam was within their ability, and those with good academic ability could get above 8 points.

On the morning of June 5, at 53 examination councils in Dak Lak province, more than 21,000 candidates entered the first exam subject of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. Meanwhile, in remote districts such as Krong Bong, Lak, M'Drak... the rate of students not registering for the exam was recorded at over 15%. In Krong Bong district alone, this rate exceeded 25%.
Some schools such as Hoa Phong Secondary School and Cu Pui Secondary School have more than 35% of students choosing to study vocational training combined with culture in Buon Ma Thuot City or neighboring cities.
Vang A Lung, a 9A1 student at Hoa Phong Secondary School, is one of them. His mother said that after the first semester of 9th grade, seeing that he had difficulty keeping up with the high school curriculum, the family considered letting him drop out of school. However, after a career counseling session organized by the school in coordination with vocational training institutions, the family decided to let him study a trade in the city after graduating from secondary school.
According to Ms. Le Thi Thao - Head of the Department of General Education and Vocational Education - Continuing Education, this positive streaming result comes from schools proactively providing early career counseling, helping students and parents have more options suitable to their family's conditions.
