Hai Long determined to beat Malaysia like he beat Man United

Midfielder Nguyen Hai Long affirmed that the Vietnamese team is focusing on winning all 3 points against host Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

On the afternoon of June 6, the Vietnamese team had its first training session in Kuala Lumpur to prepare for the second match of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup against host Malaysia.

Speaking before the training session, midfielder Nguyen Hai Long shared his feelings when wearing the ASEAN All Stars jersey to win against Manchester United in a friendly match in Kuala Lumpur recently, and also talked about the upcoming match against Malaysia and the Vietnam team.

He said: "I am very happy to receive positive comments from everyone after the match with Man United. But I know where I am. The next match is very important for the Vietnamese team in Malaysia. This is a key match. We are focusing on achieving the best result in this match."

Talking about the pressure of having to compete at the "fire pan" Bukit Jalil with a capacity of 90,000 spectators, Hai Long affirmed: "As a professional player, any stadium is the same. The most important thing is that I have to focus and try to contribute to the overall play to help the team win."

When asked about living conditions in Malaysia, Hai Long said he and his teammates are in good spirits. "Although the journey is long and difficult, when we go to the training ground, we are very excited to start practicing. Everything here is fine," he said.

Evaluating the opponent, Hai Long said that the Malaysian team has many new additions, especially naturalized foreign players. However, this midfielder who is in good form said that the coaching staff has carefully analyzed the opponent so that the Vietnamese team is ready for the match.

Hai Long affirmed: "We respect all opponents, but the important thing is that the whole team must focus on our own playing style. Playing away is very difficult, but the Vietnamese team is very eager to extend its unbeaten record against Malaysia and aim to win all 3 points."
