Tourists experience catching clams with locals at Thanh Hai beach, Thanh Phu district.
Promoting the potential of marine tourism
Con Bung Beach (in Thanh Hai Commune, Thanh Phu District), about 60 minutes by car from Ben Tre City, has become an attractive destination for tourists on weekends and holidays. With a 25km long coastline, this place possesses a wild beauty and fresh air, attracting a large number of tourists to come and play, swim and explore nature. Visitors to Con Bung can not only enjoy fresh seafood but also participate in activities such as catching crabs, wind crabs... with local fishermen.
Starting in the summer, Ms. Trinh Thi Hop ( Long An province) takes her children to Con Bung for a trip. According to Ms. Hop, this is one of the beaches that still retains its original wildness. Early morning is the ideal time to buy fresh seafood, then you can ask the restaurants along the coast to process and enjoy it on the spot at a suitable price depending on the fishing season.
In addition to swimming and enjoying seafood, visitors can also visit the Nam Hai Whale Temple - a place to worship two big whales and participate in the Whale Festival on the 15th day of the first lunar month every year. This is an opportunity for fishermen to express their gratitude to the "god" of the sea and pray for a year of favorable weather. In addition, visitors can visit the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea relic - a project honoring the soldiers on the unnumbered ships.
In Ba Tri land - where there are not many fruit trees but nature has endowed a pristine coastline with mangrove forests, promoting the potential coastal advantages, the locality has focused on investing in infrastructure to exploit the advantages in developing marine tourism. Notably, the route from Cau Ngang intersection to Con Ngoai (Bao Thuan commune) has built an embankment along the beach, attracting many tourists to Con Ngoai beach to watch the sea, enjoy seasonal seafood with many attractive processing methods.
On holidays and Tet, on the windy sea embankment, Ba Tri district also organizes activities such as "Coastal Countryside Market", giant kite flying... at Con Ngoai point to introduce and promote the potential of local tourism types to tourists, attracting thousands of people to come and have fun.
On the occasion of the recent Doan Ngo Festival (the 5th day of the 5th lunar month), Ms. Huynh Thi Ngoc Huyen (Giong Trom district) took her children to Ba Tri for a trip. Ms. Huyen said that on the road leading to Ba Tri beach, the rows of green and vibrant mangrove trees along the road made her feel relaxed and comfortable. The scenery, the people, and the waves helped her forget the stress and fatigue after long days of work...
