That was the message to businesses from Mr. Dau Anh Tuan, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), at the workshop "Business response to the US reciprocal tax policy", held in Hue on the morning of May 24.
The workshop was organized by the Hue City Department of Finance to inform the local business community about developments related to responding to the US's reciprocal tax policy with Vietnam.
Hue has about 200 businesses facing difficulties due to US reciprocal taxes.
At the workshop, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, said that negotiations on reciprocal tax policies between the two governments are currently underway.
The most recent negotiations opened up a lot of positive information for the Vietnamese side.
According to Mr. Phuong, in Hue City, there are about 200 businesses directly affected by the US's reciprocal tax policy on Vietnam in the garment, auto parts, and agriculture industries...
Although these enterprises do not contribute much to the city's budget revenue, they all have important contributions to the picture of economic development and growth in the area.

Manufacturing capacity is Vietnam's strength in negotiations.
Mr. Dau Anh Tuan said that the story of the US imposing reciprocal tariffs on many countries in the world, including Vietnam, focuses on the two words "negotiation".
Mr. Tuan commented that Vietnam is one of the countries that has adapted very quickly to this policy, when General Secretary To Lam was one of the first leaders in the world to have an important phone call with US President Donald Trump.
The Vietnamese government then also had many meetings, exchanges, and work with organizations and representatives from the US side.
According to Mr. Tuan, Vietnam is a country with relatively large production capacity and this is our strength at the negotiating table. In the coming time, he believes that Vietnam will have important policies in controlling, screening, and giving incentives to foreign projects investing in our country.
During the negotiation period, Mr. Tuan advised businesses to consider gradually adjusting the export market structure and reforming and innovating production and business models. For existing orders, businesses need to closely monitor the situation, coordinate negotiations with importers and take advantage of exporting goods during the tax deferral period.
