On the morning of April 25 in Hanoi, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Liberation of the South on April 30 and the reunification of the country, the Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to present the documentary film Victory Vietnam.

The film was found and introduced on the occasion of the historic victory anniversary.

The film Victory Vietnam , directed by Swedish director Bo Öhlén exactly 50 years ago, records the important events of April 30, 1975 in Sweden and demonstrates the strong friendship between Sweden and Vietnam.

"April 30, 1975 was a meaningful day for Vietnam, but it was also a particularly important day for tens of thousands of young Swedish people who spent more than a decade supporting the struggle of the Vietnamese people.

"In those days, I worked as a cameraman at Swedish Television, and on the day of victory, I brought my camera with me, along with other colleagues, to capture the moment when Vietnamese supporters in Stockholm spontaneously took to the streets, filled with joy and excitement," director Bo Öhlén shared in a video message sent to the event.

When Victory Vietnam was completed, the Swedish director team only made one copy and sent it to Vietnam. Since then, he has not heard any news about his film and has no copy to review.

"Last fall, a special discovery happened. A file was found at the Royal Library, and surprisingly it was our film. Seeing the film again after all these years was an emotional moment, especially seeing how people expressed their joy at the victory," he said.

Introduced to Vietnamese audiences on the occasion of the April 30, 1975 victory anniversary, Victory Vietnam brings viewers back to the vivid and emotional scenes in the capital Stockholm half a century ago.

Upon hearing the news of Vietnam's reunification, tens of thousands of Swedes took to the streets to express their joy and happiness at the victory of the Vietnamese people.

They carried the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, sang songs of peace , and shouted messages such as: "A glorious victory", "Long live glorious Vietnam", "Your fight is also our fight".

"It reminds us that, at that difficult time, people around the world, including Sweden, stood up to support Vietnam. I hope that the film Vietnam's Victory will continue to inspire future generations to always remember the lessons of the past and build a future based on respect and cooperation," Mr. Ndisi shared.

In a message sent to the press, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said: " Vietnam's Victory is an important documentary. The film authentically depicts the friendship and support of the Swedish people for Vietnam during this special historical period. We are proud to preserve the film as a valuable part of cultural heritage for future generations."

Ms. Le Thi Ha, Director of the Vietnam Film Institute, shared: "Receiving this film is a great honor. This is not only a valuable historical document but also a clear symbol of international solidarity and the common values that we all strive for."
