Receiving K54 gun from General Nguyen Thi Dinh

(CLO) The Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Museum has just received a gun presented by General Nguyen Thi Dinh to female Saigon special forces soldier Nguyen Thi Mai in 1967.


On October 20, at the home of Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai (1943 - 2024), a female Saigon - Gia Dinh special forces soldier in Ward 11, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Museum received a historical artifact, a K54 gun.

This gun was presented to Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai by Hero of the Armed Forces, Major General Nguyen Thi Dinh, Deputy Commander of the Southern Liberation Army at the 1967 Conference of Emulation Fighters of the Whole Region.

Receiving the K54 gun donated by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Mai's family, Mr. Tran Vu Binh - founder of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Museum (son of the late Hero of the Armed Forces Nguyen Van Lai) expressed that he was very moved when, on the occasion of the Vietnamese Women's Day, he received a very valuable historical artifact, which was a gun donated by a legendary Heroic Major General to a female special force soldier.

Mr. Tran Vu Binh pledged to continue to preserve, maintain and promote this artifact, bringing its historical value to life, helping viewers understand the indomitable will, courage and heroic feats of previous generations in the fight for national independence and reunification.

Female commando Nguyen Thi Mai, nicknamed "iron shuttle", became a legend of the Saigon - Gia Dinh commando force when she cleverly and bravely overcame all dangers to complete the mission of liaison, bringing cadres, soldiers and transporting documents and weapons from Hoc Mon, Cu Chi to Saigon city in the 60s of the last century.

Ms. Mai was also a direct participant in many glorious battles that brought fame to the Saigon - Gia Dinh commandos. Together with her teammates in the 90C commando team, the heroic female commando Nguyen Thi Mai devoted her entire youth to the resistance war for national independence and reunification.

At the end of 1967, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai was honored to be elected to attend the Conference of Emulation Soldiers of the whole Region and was given a K54 gun by Deputy Commander of the Liberation Army of South Vietnam Nguyen Thi Dinh as a compliment.

The Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Museum is located at 145 Tran Quang Khai Street, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, owned by the family of Armed Forces Hero Nguyen Van Lai. The museum currently preserves a number of collections and historical artifacts associated with the activities of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces during the period of fighting for national independence and reunification.
