Continue to upgrade and improve the electronic ticket system for visiting relics

Báo Thừa Thiên HuếBáo Thừa Thiên Huế04/05/2023

Inadequate due to overload

During the April 30 & May 1 holidays, the number of tourists visiting the Complex of Hue Monuments was the highest ever. The peak on May 1 welcomed 24,313 visitors.

The sudden increase in the number of visitors has overloaded the ticket sales system, forcing many groups to queue up to buy tickets. A tour guide reflected on his personal Facebook page: "Guidelines taking visitors to the Imperial City, please remember to add 45 minutes to queue up to buy tickets."

Many people believe that since the Hue Monuments Conservation Center implemented e-tickets, delays have often occurred and that this ticketing system has many shortcomings compared to the traditional ticketing system. "Every year, there are many tourists during the festival, but why is this year the tourist attractions are congested, causing many tourists to not have the patience to wait?", a tour guide reflected.

There are also cases where people buy tickets online but the ticket code does not return, so they have to buy tickets directly. When they buy tickets directly, the online ticket code returns, so they have to buy two tickets for one trip.

Another opinion reflects that, previously, when using magnetic cards, tour guides only needed to report the number of guests to buy that many tickets and give each guest a ticket, very flexible. Since implementing the new system, the entire group of guests has been integrated into one ticket, forcing tour guides to hold the tickets. In the case of a large group of guests, it is very difficult to control when tour guides do not have time to remember all the guests' faces...

Previously, you could buy tickets a few days in advance, and on the day of departure, you just had to bring the ticket to the gate, but with the electronic ticket system, you have to buy it from that time. With the old system, if you bought a ticket and didn't go, you could save it for the next group or return it, but with the new system, if you didn't go within 2 days, the ticket would be canceled and you would lose money.

Speaking to reporters, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that with the electronic ticket system, tickets purchased for multiple destinations and tickets purchased directly at the counter can only be used within 2 days, calculated from the time of purchase. Tickets purchased for multiple destinations and tickets purchased online, from the time visitors enter the gate, the system will start calculating the time.

Will complete the electronic ticket system to serve customers.

In response to the above comments, at noon on May 4, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center responded. A representative of the center said that the service, reception, ticket sales and control at tourist attractions had been planned and prepared in advance by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center. However, due to the sudden increase in the number of visitors, ticket sales could not meet all needs at the same time at a certain time, causing customers to have to wait.

According to Mr. Vo Quang Huy, Deputy Chief of Office of Hue Monuments Conservation Center, in the ticket checking stage, there are also some cases where customers have to wait because the ticket checking department has to coordinate with the ticket sales department to come up with the most beneficial solution for visitors.

Regarding the technical problem, the center also received information that some visitors who purchased tickets through the electronic ticket system could not send the QR code to the visitor after payment.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Center apologizes for the above inconveniences and hopes that visitors will forgive the long wait and some problems while purchasing tickets.

“We are working hard to improve the ticket sales and control system to best serve visitors in the future. Regarding the complaints that the center’s staff has not enthusiastically supported visitors, we will check and fix them to bring the best experiences to visitors as well as travel companies,” said Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

A representative from the Hue Monuments Conservation Center also said that for large groups, tour guides or ticket buyers can request to print the correct number of tickets for the number of guests, or print 1 ticket so that they only need to swipe it once, which is convenient, does not require holding many tickets at once, saves paper, and protects the environment.

In cases where a system error causes a customer to purchase tickets twice (in person and online), the Hue Monuments Conservation Center will check the system, contact the buyer and refund the customer.

Mr. Huy said: “With the spirit of learning and to support travel agencies and visitors when encountering the above incidents, we hope that visitors will please send a message to the center's fanpage to review and support you as soon as possible. At the same time, the center will complete the online ticket purchase system as well as arrange more automatic ticket machines and mobile ticket sales points to serve if the number of visitors suddenly increases.”

In addition to completing the information technology system, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center will continue to communicate on mass media, travel agencies, print and distribute instructions on how to use e-tickets and how to look up tickets in the near future.

The electronic ticket system was put into use by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center in December last year. This is an effective solution to improve the management and operation of the center, strictly manage ticket sales revenue, prevent loss and errors in the ticket verification process, and reduce inconvenience for tourists.
