Searching for 2 pilots in the Yak-130 plane crash in Binh Dinh

The Air Defense - Air Force has coordinated with other forces to search for the two pilots of the crashed Yak-130 aircraft.

On the afternoon of November 6, the Propaganda Department announced that on November 6, Air Force Regiment 940, Air Force Officer School, Air Defense - Air Force Service organized a daily training flight at Phu Cat airport, with Yak-130 aircraft (registration number 210D).

The plane flew exercise 208, long-distance flight - no-go zone - through clouds in complex meteorological conditions, with Colonel Nguyen Van Son, Regiment Commander, flying in the front cabin and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, Flight Director, flying in the back cabin.

This is the 3rd flight, the 2nd flight of the front cabin pilot in the flight crew of the day.

The plane took off at 9:55 a.m. and landed at 10:38 a.m. The pilot reported that the plane's landing gear could not be released. He also took emergency measures to handle the situation but was still unsuccessful.

The pilot reported to the flight commander and was allowed to parachute. The two pilots parachuted at 10:51 a.m. at the TB2 Shooting Range, Tay Son, Binh Dinh.

The Air Defense - Air Force Service has coordinated with forces of Military Region 5 and localities to urgently organize forces and means for ground and air search and rescue.

The Propaganda Department said that the search results will continue to be informed.

The Yak-130 is a multi-role training aircraft in service with the Vietnam People's Air Force, performing the task of training fighter pilots to upgrade to more modern aircraft.

In addition to its training function, the Yak-130 can also operate as a fighter with medium-range reconnaissance and attack capabilities. This is a Russian-made aircraft line and is currently equipped for the 940th Regiment, Air Force Officer School, Air Defense - Air Force Service since 2021.
