Good news from exports

The clear recovery and acceleration of industrial production, especially in export-oriented sectors such as wood processing, garment, and agricultural processing, has directly increased the volume and value of goods supplied to the international market.

Yen Bai ’s main export items during this period included: processed wood products, agricultural products (such as cinnamon, tea, cassava starch, processed bamboo shoots, star anise products) and deeply processed minerals. In particular, Tran Yen district emerged as a bright spot with many agricultural and forestry products for export, contributing significantly to the province’s total turnover, with a total export value estimated at 19.38 million USD.

In addition, agricultural and forestry products and processed agricultural and forestry products continue to affirm their important supporting role. The province is promoting strategic solutions to enhance value and competitiveness, such as the target of tracing the origin of at least 10 key agricultural, forestry, fishery and food product groups by 2025 and actively promoting OCOP products with export potential.

This shows the shift from raw exports to deeply processed products with higher added value, meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of the international market. In addition, manufactured industrial products and processed minerals also play an important role.

Yen Bai's impressive export growth is the result of a combination of many factors. The strong recovery of domestic and international market demand after a difficult period has created a big "push" for businesses.

Export turnover in the first 4 months increased by 25.1%, along with total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the province in the first 4 months also recorded a growth rate of 20.2%, showing a broad-based economic recovery. In addition, it is impossible not to mention the proactive role of the Yen Bai provincial government in implementing practical support policies.

Tax and fee incentives, support for access to capital, trade promotion, simplification of administrative procedures and support for businesses to take advantage of free trade agreements (FTAs) have directly solved difficulties and improved competitiveness for businesses. Promoting digital transformation and e-commerce is also a strategic step, helping businesses access larger markets.

Along with that, Yen Bai enterprises also proactively promote trade promotion activities, seek markets; at the same time, promote investment and apply technical advances in production.

Mr. Nguyen Kien Dinh - Director of Yamazaki Vietnam Co., Ltd., Hung Khanh Commune, Tran Yen District said: "Recently, the Company has built more factories, equipped with modern machinery systems, doubled the purchasing and processing capacity, and is expected to purchase about 5,000 tons in 2025 to increase export output."

Yen Bai's continuous efforts in improving the investment environment, supporting businesses and capturing market trends are creating a bright export picture, promising further progress in the future, making an important contribution to the overall socio-economic development of the province.

Despite impressive results, Yen Bai's export activities still face many challenges. Questions about the sustainability of growth, the uniformity between sectors (in 2024, the mining sector will decline significantly) and inherent difficulties of enterprises such as fierce competition and high input costs still need to be resolved.
