The situation for Ukrainian troops defending the city of Pokrovsk is rapidly deteriorating, as Russian troops take control of more areas and begin to gather forces.

Russia's Readovka channel reported on October 31 that the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) had breached Ukraine's defense system near the railway line, threatening to completely encircle the enemy garrison if the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in Pokrovsk did not take urgent action. In the city center, battles are taking place near the railway tracks east of the station. In the southeast of the city, Russian assault groups are advancing on Sobachevka and Gnativka, and fighting is still ongoing in the village of Rih.
Regarding the situation in the city of Myrnohrad (Dymitrov in Russian), the shock troops of the 51st Army of the RFAF Center Group broke through the Ukrainian defenses with armored vehicles and attacked the eastern outskirts of the city. Russian units are also advancing into Myrnohrad from the Novoekonomicheske bridgehead. Readovka channel reported that by the afternoon of October 31, the RFAF had completely taken control of the village of Rih, east of Pokrovsk, adding pressure to the already difficult situation of the Ukrainian defense forces in the city. The Pokrovsk-Mirograd urban area is being rapidly surrounded by Russian troops, with simultaneous fighting taking place in these two urban areas. In the northern sector of the front in this area, Russian troops captured the village of Volodymyrivka. Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops launched counterattacks from the village of Shakhove. Strong attacks by AFU strike groups are also observed west of Mayak. According to experts’ analysis, this could be an attempt by the AFU General Staff to pull Russian troops away from the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad urban areas. However, currently, 5 RFAF marine brigades are reinforced in the direction of the “Dobropolye salient” and the 51st Army is withdrawn to concentrate on attacking east of Pokrovsk.
According to Readovka, the RFAF 51st Army crushed the Ukrainian effort at the “Dobropolye salient” to relieve pressure on Pokrovsk. Pro-Kiev sources began to speculate about the need to immediately abandon Pokrovsk and Mirnograd, but it may be too late. Despite fierce counterattacks by the enemy, the RFAF marine units still fought back tenaciously. This was the fifth consecutive day that AFU reinforcements had continuously raided the western flank of the Dobropolye salient, hoping to cut off the “Dobropolye salient”. Although the Ukrainian side initially pushed back the Russians, it was not enough to create a breakthrough. The Ukrainians were bogged down in the Zolotoy Kolodez - Kucherov Yar - Volnoye - Novoye Shakhovo area. Rybar reported that the Russians still held Kucherov Yar, the Gliny Donbassa quarry, and the surrounding ravines, turning them into a single defensive line. The AFU continues to look for opportunities to cut off the Dobropolye salient, mobile battles continue. Due to the serious deterioration of the situation in the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd defense area, as this area is completely blocked by the RFAF. The AFU's combat operations in the “Dobropolye salient” are now of particular importance.
RVvoenkory channel said that there are many signs that AFU is actively preparing forces in the village of Gryshyne (northwest of Pokrovsk) and other villages west of the Grishinka River, to conduct an operation to rescue the Pokrovsk - Mirnograd region. Therefore, it was important for the AFU General Staff now to hold off the 51st Army for as long as possible, to prevent the RFAF from reinforcing the 2nd Army operating south of Pokrovsk, pushing deep into the city, in order to repel a potential AFU breakthrough. With the mission of diversion, stretching the encirclement of the RFAF that had closed the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad urban area, the AFU General Staff was ready to ignore the losses of the 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade and other forces involved in the fighting at Dobropolye. Thus, the AFU had too much to bet.
It should be recalled that a day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to stop fighting in Pokrovsk for several hours, so that foreign media could film the siege and let Kiev decide the fate of its troops stationed in Pokrovsk.
