According to Xinhua News Agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on October 30 that the US plan to resume nuclear weapons testing is a "serious threat" to international peace and security.

Foreign Minister Araghchi's remarks came hours after US President Donald Trump announced that he had instructed the Pentagon to begin resuming nuclear weapons testing.

According to Minister Araghchi, the US posed the world's "most dangerous nuclear proliferation threat", and called on the international community to hold Washington accountable for "normalizing the proliferation of devastating weapons".

Iran's foreign minister also accused Washington of both defaming Iran's peaceful nuclear program and threatening to attack more Tehran facilities, saying the US had blatantly violated international law.

The US has long accused Iran of seeking to develop nuclear weapons, a charge Tehran denies. On June 22, US forces joined Israel in airstrikes on Iranian territory, targeting Iran's nuclear facilities at Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan.
