(Dan Tri) - Nearly 70 racers have arrived in Quy Nhon city (Binh Dinh) ready for the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship.
On March 21, at the Tocepo Press Center, Thi Nai Lagoon, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh, a press conference was held to announce the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship, taking place at Thi Nai Lagoon from March 22 to March 24. This is the first time Vietnam has been on the map of speed and adventure sports on water such as motorboat racing, jet skiing, and Quy Nhon City is honored to be the host for 5 consecutive years of the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship.

Quy Nhon is also the first destination of the 2024 season. With a water surface area of ​​up to 5,000 hectares and a width of nearly 4km, Thi Nai lagoon is considered an ideal location for races that require speed and precision such as jet skiing and Formula 1 motorboats. According to the Organizing Committee, preparations for the race have been completed. Notably, up to now, 62 racers from 26 countries have registered to participate in the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship.

Among them, there are racers with high achievements in the 2023 season such as Francois Medori (World Champion Runabout GP1), Mickael Poret (World Champion Ski GP1), Jessica Chavanne (World Champion Ski ladies GP1), Roberto Mariani (World Champion Freestyle)... Sharing about the quantity and quality of racers this year, Mr. Raimondo di San Germano, CEO of Aquabike Promotion (the race promoter), said that this is not the largest quantity, but it is the race with the best quality of athletes in the past 10 years.

"When hearing about the race being held at Thi Nai lagoon in Vietnam, a completely new location, many racers were excited to register to participate. They wanted to explore new things in this land. Most racers are from Europe, America... In addition to developing this sport in Asia, we will promote the image of Binh Dinh - Vietnam to friends around the world," said Mr. Raimondo di San Germano. Meanwhile, many opinions are concerned about the impact of the race when Quy Nhon has had rain and wind in recent days. However, the racers think this is an interesting challenge. The reigning Ski Ladies GP1 champion Jessica Chavanne excitedly shared: "Currently, racers really like this weather condition. This way the racing experience will be richer, it doesn't matter if you get wet or a little rain anyway." According to the Organizing Committee, the UIM-ABP Aquabike tournament includes 4 competition categories, classified by amateur, performance to professional levels.
