At the reception, expressing his pleasure at meeting Azerbaijan's leading enterprises and corporations in the fields of oil, gas, minerals and finance, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the role and important contributions of corporations and enterprises to the socio -economic development of Azerbaijan, as well as efforts to promote substantive cooperation with international partners, including Vietnam.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and is ready to strengthen cooperation with large enterprises of Azerbaijan in all fields, especially energy, mining, finance, banking, infrastructure development, and real estate - fields in which Vietnam is very interested and wishes to cooperate.
Mr. Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AzerGold Group, thanked General Secretary To Lam for visiting Azerbaijan, emphasizing that the good political and diplomatic relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect, along with the determination of the two countries' senior leaders, creating favorable conditions for cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Zakir Ibrahimov shared that AzerGold Group is responsible for managing the exploration and exploitation of rare and precious metals, non-ferrous metals, using new and modern technologies, minimizing the impact on the environment; has explored in very remote areas, in addition to economic tasks, also solving social problems in these places. The group's leaders proposed to cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises in the mining sector; hoping that enterprises of the two countries will exchange information and determine cooperation mechanisms.
At the meeting, Mr. Kanan Najafov, Deputy General Director of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said that the company is currently operating in all fields related to oil and gas, energy; is expanding its operations to new markets, retail; wishes to increase the volume of crude oil exchanged, supply gas and liquefied gas to the Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV Gas) and participate in power generation projects using liquefied gas in Vietnam; the company's leaders believe that this will be a good opportunity for cooperation and become a reliable partner in this field.
Mr. Shahmar Movsumov, CEO of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ), shared that the fund is tasked with managing and effectively using the country's financial resources; providing finance for major projects. Mr. Shahmar Movsumov wishes to strengthen cooperation with many regions in the world, Asian countries, including Vietnam - a dynamically developing economy.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Vietnam-Azerbaijan relationship has developed over the past decades and through this visit, the two sides have strengthened their cooperation more effectively in many areas, of which economic cooperation is a very important pillar. General Secretary To Lam said that the cooperation is not commensurate with the potential and political relations between the two countries.
Regarding the oil and gas sector, General Secretary To Lam said that since 1959, when President Ho Chi Minh visited the drilling rigs and raised the issue of cooperation with Azerbaijan, this was the first country to cooperate with Vietnam in oil. Although at that time, Vietnam had not yet assessed its oil and gas reserves, with President Ho Chi Minh's vision, oil cooperation has become a strategic direction for cooperation between the two countries.
With its strategic geographical location and developed energy export infrastructure, Azerbaijan is now a major energy center, capable of providing stable supply to many key markets in Europe and Asia. General Secretary To Lam said that oil and gas cooperation between the two countries has developed well. This is also a training center for the oil and gas industry from a very early age. Trade relations between the two countries are also very good; oil and gas corporations of the two countries have signed valuable contracts. Cooperation between the two countries does not stop at exploration, exploitation, and processing but also goes beyond the framework to the energy and non-oil and gas sectors.
On that basis, General Secretary To Lam stated that Vietnam wishes to invest in mines in Azerbaijan; will continue to import petroleum products for oil refineries; and import liquefied gas for power plants.
General Secretary To Lam said that Vietnam is planning to develop its economy at a high speed and is in great need of financial resources, including foreign investment funds; he believes that with the goals and directions of the Azerbaijan State Oil Fund (SOFAZ), Vietnam's projects will meet the requirements. Not only state-owned enterprises, but also millions of private enterprises are currently in need of capital from financial investment funds.
Appreciating the experience and exploitation capacity of AzerGold Group, as well as many projects to be implemented in the coming time, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam will create the most favorable conditions for investment projects in Vietnam, ensuring stability and long-term; the success of Azerbaijani enterprises will contribute very positively to the cooperative relationship between the two countries./.
