Philosopher Karl Marx was born in 1818 in Germany and settled in London in 1849 until his death in 1883. He was an outstanding leader of the working class, working people, oppressed peoples and progressive humanity in general.
Karl Marx's grave stands out in the quiet green space of Highgate Cemetery, a stopover with deep historical and ideological significance, as well as a prominent tourist attraction in the British capital.
The monument, designed by sculptor Laurence Bradshaw, consists of a bronze bust of Karl Marx on a marble pedestal engraved with the famous slogan "Workers of all lands, unite!" from his work The Communist Manifesto.

The tomb is ranked "Grade I listed" - the highest level for heritages with outstanding architectural and historical values in England. Many Marxists, scholars and international tourists come here as a spiritual pilgrimage to commemorate the author of ideas that have had a profound influence on world politics and society.
Highgate Cemetery is located on a hill in the northern suburbs of London. This is also the resting place of many famous people such as physicist Michael Faraday, the parents of writer Charles Dickens, philosopher, sociologist, political scientist Herbert Spencer, writer George Eliot... The cemetery is open to visitors with its own time and regulations.
