Summary of 25 years of implementing Directive No. 30-CT/TW dated February 18, 1998 of the Politburo

Kinhtedothi - On November 7, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a conference to review 25 years of implementing Directive No. 30-CT/TW dated February 18, 1998 of the 8th Politburo on building and implementing democracy at the grassroots level.

According to the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, in recent times, Party committees and authorities at all levels have concretized many documents and solutions to lead, direct, deploy, and seriously implement Directive No. 30-CT/TW of the Politburo, creating clear changes in implementing democracy at the grassroots level.

Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has rewarded outstanding collectives and individuals.

Along with that, the city's political system has also promoted the strength of national solidarity, exploited the potential and creativity of the people to contribute ideas and suggestions to build the Party and government, and actively participated in patriotic emulation movements and the city's campaign to care for the lives of the people and disadvantaged workers.

These results have also contributed significantly to socio -economic development, maintaining political security and social order and safety in Ho Chi Minh City.

The activities of People's Councils at all levels in each period are increasingly innovated and improved in quality, especially in supervision, questioning, and voter contact activities.

At the same time, the management and administration work of authorities at all levels links the implementation of democracy at the grassroots level with the government's mass mobilization work, focusing on implementing administrative procedure reform associated with the emulation movement "Skilled Mass Mobilization" increasingly practically and effectively...

Through the implementation of democracy at the grassroots level, many movements and models have been implemented with depth and practical effectiveness such as: "Hunger eradication and poverty reduction", "Sustainable poverty reduction", "Mobilizing people to donate land to expand roads (alleys) in Ho Chi Minh City".

The results of these models are more than 5,200 projects, including 3,874 alley expansion projects. Along with that, nearly 168,140 households donated 5.4 million square meters of land (equivalent to VND 10,050 billion) and people also contributed an additional VND 458 billion to build the projects.

According to the assessment of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, after 25 years of implementing Directive No. 30-CT/TW, it has contributed to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of government operations at all levels, enhancing the creation of a favorable environment for people to participate in the management and supervision process, contributing resources to promote the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City and has important significance in promoting the democratization of social life, especially at the grassroots level.

Also on this occasion, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee commended 93 collectives and 68 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing grassroots democracy regulations in recent times.
