Attending the Conference were members of the City Steering Committee 515, leaders of districts and representatives of military units stationed in the area.
In the 2021-2025 period, implementing the direction of the National Steering Committee 515, the central ministries, branches and Military Region 3, Hai Phong city has synchronously and drastically deployed the tasks of searching, collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information.
After nearly 5 years of implementation, the City Military Command has received and processed 455 pieces of information related to the graves of martyrs whose hometowns are in Hai Phong and 36 pieces of information about martyrs who died and were initially buried in the city. At the same time, the city has reviewed and supplemented information on 141 martyrs who died at the Vi Xuyen - Ha Tuyen Front (1979-1989) and neighboring districts.
By August 2023, Hai Phong city had completed the mapping and collection of martyrs' remains at all three levels (commune, district, city) and handed over the products to the central specialized agencies in accordance with regulations. According to statistics, the total number of martyrs sacrificed and initially buried in the city was 2,499 cases, of which 2,434 remains were collected.
The City Department of Home Affairs has completed the files and lists of martyrs for 3,168 cases; at the same time, reviewed and revised information for 792 incorrect files of martyrs. In addition, the Department has coordinated to correct and revise information on 99 martyrs' tombstones; prepared files, assessed and submitted to competent authorities for consideration of recognizing martyrs for 208 outstanding cases.
Speaking at the Conference, comrade Tran Van Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, Deputy Head of the City Steering Committee 515 acknowledged and commended the efforts and sense of responsibility of units and localities in performing their tasks, especially the City Military Command, the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, the Military Command of Kien Thuy district, Thuy Nguyen city and a number of related units.
Regarding the direction for 2026 and the following years, Hai Phong city determined to continue promoting propaganda and mobilizing people to provide information related to martyrs and martyrs' graves; organizing training and guiding the implementation of new procedures as soon as they are issued by superiors. The city will proactively review, verify, map, develop plans and organize forces to search for and collect martyrs' remains in a scientific and effective manner.
Along with that, continue to exploit and effectively operate specialized software systems to serve the work of mapping, decoding symbols, unit codes and providing accurate and timely information to martyrs' relatives.
The search, collection and identification of martyrs' remains is not only an important political task but also a profound gesture of gratitude from the Party Committee, government and people of Hai Phong city towards those who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland./.
