Speaking at the meeting, President Rumen Radev emphasized that Bulgaria was one of the first 10 countries in the world to recognize Vietnam's independence in 1950. Over the past 7 decades, the two countries have built a cooperative relationship on a solid foundation of friendship, trust and solidarity. Bulgarian President Rumen Radev affirmed the importance of the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship for the two regions, emphasizing Vietnam's role as a bridge between Bulgaria and ASEAN and Bulgaria's role as a bridge between Vietnam and the European Union.
President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev affirmed: "In the early period, Bulgaria supported Vietnam both materially and spiritually in the struggle for independence and post-war reconstruction. From 1972 to 1989, more than 30,000 Vietnamese people worked in Bulgaria, of whom 5,000 received degrees from universities in Bulgaria. This is a testament to the strong relationship and a valuable investment for future generations."

The Bulgarian President also expressed his admiration for the great economic and social progress that Vietnam has achieved, with a high growth rate for many years. On the other hand, he shared the outstanding achievements of the land of roses in areas such as automotive technology, electric vehicle software and space technology, and wished to develop these areas with Vietnam, such as artificial intelligence projects, green technology and sustainable agricultural solutions.
Addressing the students of the Diplomatic Academy, the future diplomats of Vietnam, President Rumen Radev emphasized that “this is a very important profession for the future, not even a profession, but a calling for the future. Because the world has become an arena of strong and frequent competition, even fierce, and international relations are fragile”.
“Becoming a good diplomat is the best way to serve the country, protect the interests of the people and continue Vietnam’s progress and international integration. That is why I am here, because I want to see the development of relations between Vietnam and Bulgaria in the next stage,” said President Rumen Radev.
